I think my most controversial opinion on #bitcoin is that we wrongly conflate Self Custody and Decentralisation of the network as the same thing.
I did try and convince people of this at Cairns Bush Bash, but didn't find a good way in.
If anyone wants to argue this it may help me sharpen my sword.
Jan 03 - Proof of Keys Game
This year I set the kids a challenge to teach key management :)
- We create a brand new bitcoin seed each (12 words)
- We deposit $365 of bitcoin to each seed ($1 a day)
- Each kids has to secure these 12 words for 1 year from their parents.
- If they can recover the wallet in 1 year they get the bitcoin as spending money.
- If we (or anyone else!) discover it bitcoin gone, lessons learned.
Will do check ins every 3 months I think and I'll slowly add in various approaches to how to secure things as we go.
Oldest is 10 so this is serious money to them :)
They are very excited for this :)
