Core Lightning has been triaging a high volume of AI-generated CVE reports over recent weeks. Several are real, and a coordinated fix is underway.
What to do now: do not shut your node down. Restart it with --offline.
That flag stops peer connections, so no payments route in, out or through your node. It keeps running, which means it keeps watching the chain and can still act if a counterparty force-closes a channel. A node that is powered off cannot do that, and that is why switching off is the worse option.

https://blog.blockstream.com/jade-virtual-secure-element/
Your recovery phrase sits encrypted on the device. Unlocking it needs the PIN you type on Jade and a key share from a blind oracle. Neither is enough by itself.
The oracle never sees the real PIN or any wallet data. It only gets a scrambled version that includes a secret unique to that particular Jade.
Three wrong PINs and both sides wipe. Device and oracle. After that the encrypted data is permanently unusable without the recovery phrase.
A locked Jade holds nothing an attacker can use alone.
Everything is open source, firmware, hardware, and the oracle. You can run the oracle yourself, or skip it completely and use SeedQR or type the recovery phrase.

Jade has had Anti-Exfil since the beginning.
A compromised hardware wallet can slowly leak your private keys through the nonces in its signatures, even if the keys themselves were generated securely.

Physical secure elements are closed-source under NDA. Once reverse-engineered offline, every unit is compromised.
Jade's virtual SE (Blind Oracle) encrypts your seed so the locked device holds only ciphertext. The AES-256 key is co-created with a truly blind, rate-limited oracle that wipes after 3 wrong PINs. The attack becomes interactive and remote.

First and foremost, we wish the
team the very best as they work through this situation.
They are excellent partners to Blockstream and the Bitcoin ecosystem, particularly at the intersection of layer-2 networks like Lightning and Liquid.
To strengthen ecosystem resilience and redundancy, Blockstream is launching a new swaps feature. This initiative was already in development as part of our broader effort to build a more resilient suite of tools for the Lightning and Liquid networks. This system is currently in beta testing with select participants.
This was not an effort to replace any one provider. We see Blockstream Swaps as a complementary implementation that adds much-needed redundancy and diversity to the ecosystem. These recent events have only reinforced that need, and we are accelerating efforts to bring Blockstream Swaps to market.
We welcome conversations with wallets, apps and other potential integration partners.

OP_CHECKSHRINCS uses one public key with two ways to spend. The first path keeps signatures small by having the device track how many times it has signed.

Most people buy bitcoin first and secure it later. With Jade paired to the Blockstream app, every purchase lands straight in offline cold storage, secured by your hardware wallet from the very first transaction.
Self-custody got a reputation for being hard. Jade Core is here to end it.
Serious protection for your bitcoin, with a setup simple enough that "I'll do it later" stops being a reason.

An unconfirmed transaction isn't lost, it's waiting its turn in the mempool, and the fee you paid is its place in line. In a hurry? Bump the fee in the Blockstream app to move up the queue.

0-conf brings safe-to-act-on transfers, now in public beta with a full release around the corner. And with the issuance cap removed, issuers can mint stablecoins and other Issued Assets at real-world scale.

Today, losing your hardware wallet is fine.
Your recovery phrase gets you back in. In a post-quantum signing setup, the device also holds state: a running count of how many times it has signed. That state matters for security.
SHRINCS is designed so that if the device is lost, the recovery phrase loads into a new one and falls back to a path that needs no state at all.
The fallback needs no state, so a lost device is never a lost wallet. More expensive to spend from, but always accessible. Blockstream Research Director Jonas Nick on building a post-quantum scheme that stays safe even when hardware fails:

Getting off an exchange shouldn't be hard. Jade Core is the simplest way to hold your own bitcoin, built for anyone taking self-custody for the first time.

Satoshi chose secp256k1 for Bitcoin’s cryptography.
Jonas Nick and Blockstream Research are among the co-maintainers of libsecp256k1, the library every Bitcoin node runs to implement it. Researching what comes next is a natural extension of that work.

Bitcoin transactions could get cheaper by combining signatures across transactions.

Turns out you don't need to wave a device at a webcam, tape over your laptop camera, or set up in a windowless room to take self-custody of your bitcoin.
Jade Core keeps it simple: plug in, back up, transact, done.

Supply chain attacks are real. Before you use a new Bitcoin hardware wallet, check the tamper-evident seal, then run a genuine check (if it has one).

Q2 was Blockstream moving from research to release.
Blockstream Research took post-quantum Bitcoin from a live deployment on the
to OP_CHECKSHRINCS, a signature opcode the whole network can evaluate.
Blockstream Jade became a three-model lineup, with the new Jade Core turning self-custody into a five-minute move off an exchange.
Liquid published a roadmap that puts 0-conf and a trust-minimized bridge on the calendar.
Core Lightning strengthened node architecture with bwatch, while the Explorer API kept blockchain data fast and dependable at enterprise scale.

Simplicity's site just got a full redesign.
Simplicity lets you prove exactly how a contract behaves before it goes live. No surprise fees, no transactions failing mid-execution. The security guarantees are part of the language, not bolted on after.

Stateful signatures trade systemic risk for localized risk. The failure mode is confined to individual wallets, not the network. Jonas Nick at the Bitcoin Conference 2026 on why that's the better trade-off to explore.
