◤◢◤◢◤◢◤◢◤◢◤◢◤◢◤◢◤◢ ⚠️ Privacy is a basic human right. ◤◢◤◢◤◢◤◢◤◢◤◢◤◢◤◢◤◢ • Private & Encrypted Messenger App • Open-Source & Free-to-Use • Built on Nostr ◤◢ Privacy by Principle ◤◢ Vector is a decentralized communication platform built on the Nostr Protocol, offering no-compromise encryption with zero metadata leakage and plausible deniability for all content, including texts, media, voice notes, and files, adhering to the NIP-17 standard. It natively integrates BIP-39, allowing every Vector account to function as a crypto wallet and vice versa, streamlining tasks like address sharing and payments through compatibility with native wallets like MPW. Vector leverages local, private, device-powered AI to provide practical features such as voice message transcription, language translation, and meme gif search via a decentralized relay-based index. Its resilience is ensured by community-run Nostr relays, eliminating downtime, and its fully open-source codebase—from infrastructure to protocol specs—avoids proprietary lock-in, making it unkillable and transparent. Open-source technology developed by Formless Labs.

The enshittification of traditional messengers and communication platforms are what inspired us to create Vector and thankfully discover Nostr.
These are the precise types of reasons below why people must learn to deny any measure of KYC. Many of the challenges are not just technical, but social. People will continue to go to apps where their friends, family, work teams, etc. are. This is up to us to help get the messaging out that there are alternatives. Additionally, it is also why Vector remains adamant about supporting other privacy messengers, especially here on Nostr. Let the people choose what works best for their needs, but give them choices.
What's the point of having Freedom Tech if 90% of your real connections and network are still on traditional surveillanceware?

We've made sharing and adding new contacts even easier with QR.
Profile > QR Button > Share
No, it's not a groundbreaking new feature, but it is one that drastically improves the user experience. Many of you since the beginning have suffered without this feature. We are happy to make your life easier with these custom Vector QR Codes and thank you for your patience. It also makes it a lot easier in real life to add family, friends, and new contacts at events, meetups, and in general.

🔰What is Vector?
Your Client. Customize Your Privacy.
🟢 Tor Support 🟢 Memory Hardening 🟢 Prevent URL Tracking 🟢 Local Pass/PIN (Optional) 🟢 Biometric Login (Optional) 🟢 Remote Signer (Optional)
There is no one-size-fits-all messenger. There isn't even one that fits a single person across every situation they use it in. So Vector is built to be configured rather than accepted: deep customization, on whatever device you're on, arranged however works best for you. That's why Vector also ships a bare build with the optional features stripped out, for anyone who wants the smallest possible attack surface over the flashier extras.

A small milestone for Vector, but a significant one.
For anyone who would like to join, you can always view Public Communities on the Vector Hub or you can simply just visit http://chat.vectorapp.io
Previously, Vector was forced to go through several group chat wipes due to breaking changes on the past encrypted group chat protocol. Since then, it has been smooth sailing with the Concord Protocol migration.
Bleeding-edge tech is never easy and always riddled with headaches...
but it is important to us that there is always stability and reliability in the tech stack... not only just the principle behind it, but for the community, for the organizations, for the teams, for the users who rely on this infrastructure.
We highly commend all teams, developers, and open-source protocols aiming to preserve privacy, throughout all the challenges. It is never an easy journey, but nothing worthwhile usually is.
Thanks again to everyone for believing and building with us in this journey of Freedom Tech 💚

Concord v2 Migration... Successful ✅
Vector v0.4.1 is now on Concord v2! (Compliments to the Chef,
)
The new group chat encryption protocol integrated since v0.4.0 has gone through some significant improvements and changes thanks to some great minds and contributions from around the world.
Concord is an open-source protocol designed to make encrypted and private messages scalable, reliable, and consistent. Often with additional security measures for privacy-sake, it can rapidly add friction to the end user experience, making it slow and painful.
Concord Fixes That.
Concord Protocol has rapidly been gaining both attention and adoption in the Nostr ecosystem. Since its first release, there are more than 6 other clients that have integrated it (that we are aware of). Two notable clients are Armada by Soapbox Team and Amethyst.
This means there can now be interoperability across different chat/messenger platforms and apps.
⚠️For all Community Owners/Creators in Vector, you will need to resubmit your Public Community to Vector Hub so that it can update with the latest Concord v2.
🔰Join the Official Vector Community (chat.vectorapp.io)
Last but not least, we wanted to give a special thanks to all of you who have been testing out Concord since the beginning and been helping to share feedback both to Vector and
. We couldn't be more grateful, this is exactly how open-source protocols thrive.
Always give credit to where it is due and first on that list is
as well as and the team for seeing the same challenges we faced in Vector with large group chats and communities, but also the potential that Concord possessed. Thanks to your time, efforts, and contributions Concord is evolving into something we all have needed... especially for a reliable, encrypted group chat standard here on Nostr. There is nothing better than running your own clients (settings, preferences, etc.), but communicating daily through the same protocol. Interoperability at its finest...
🌱Please be sure to update Vector to the latest version (v0.4.1). Available on GitHub, VectorApp.io, .
Finally, we will be organizing an official blog article to go into a deeper dive with Concord Protocol with the intent to help the world understand it better. The plan is to have 2 modes, one for the layman and one for developers. Toggle on for your preference, but for those who want to read and learn you can do so and for those who want to get their hands-on experience, skip the tutorial and start playing with it... we have your best interests in mind. 😇

💣 Ephemeral Message Teaser
Commonly referred to as: "Self-Destructing" "Disappearing" "Vanquishing" "Ephemeral"
Messages that auto-delete once a set time interval passes (Ex: 10 seconds, 1 minute, 1 day).
We've had this feature planned since the beginning, but it just took some time to implement due to the long backlog of other features. We will be releasing the first iteration in v0.4.1 soon™ (can already test on the v0.4.1 Pre-Release on GitHub). Thanks to everyone who suggested this nice privacy feature, you will be able to use it soon. If you have any feedback or suggestions to further improve it, like other time intervals, just let us know!
Stay tuned for much more to follow in the v0.4.1 release...

🟩 Feature Highlight: Multi-Account
Profile > Dropdown > Switch or Add Account
This one of the most requested features for the last release and we are happy to finally be able to deliver. Switching between accounts made easy since the release of v0.4.0 with a few clicks.
We're not sure how many users (on average) use multiple accounts, but we do want to accommodate purely from a privacy standpoint as well as for high-level customization. Many people use different aliases or pseudonyms, but still would like to have a personal account for close friends and family or one just for work/business as well.
Use Vector to best fit your needs and customize how you want.

Recently brought to our attention, a lot people are concerned about testing out newer apps in the "Age of AI" and rightfully concerned about vibe-coded apps... their true levels of privacy, security, and reliability.
With that said, we took time to add to our GitBook docs a page on AI Usage & Transparency that covers how we address AI and its relevance in Vector's development.
⚠️ Zero Blind Commits Policy Every single pull request and commit on GitHub is manually reviewed by the founder and senior developer. Not a single commit or contribution, regardless of whether AI was involved in writing it, has ever been pushed without review by the senior developer and other team members. AI is not perfect, and neither are human developers, but peer review is a crucial part of quality control and the foundational reason why open-source technology is often more trustworthy and resilient in practice.
We also go deeper into our workflow, where and how AI is utilized with full transparency into our development process.

GM, Nostr 🦩
We're happy to share that we've updated all of our GitBook docs to be on par with the latest v0.4.0 release. There were a lot of new pages and sections added, as well as some more images and GIFs of screen recordings. Some people had requested they wanted a section to learn more of "How it Works", so we added that on the landing page that takes you straight to the privacy and tech stack.
Take a peek: https://docs.vectorapp.io
GitBook serves as our real introduction to Vector for newcomers, whether for your average person or developers, though it probably doesn't need to be said, but devs can always go straight to GitHub.

We have finally arrived at the point where we can consider Vector at an MVP state. More or less it was touched upon with v0.4.0, but v0.4.1 will be the baseline moving forward. It only took a year and a half of development, but wouldn't have made it this far without you all.
The next version will patch just about every issue, bug, and request we've heard from the community, other than an iOS release (planned Q3-Q4) and we will open up testing shortly for our community and anyone else who would like to get involved.
