If you want to use AI to help flesh out ideas, please actually flesh them out before thending eet. Don't just 1 line prompt send to production, take time to map out your idea. Iterate, improve, iterate, repeat. I can't believe how low the bar is for development now (ironically as AI increasingly gets more powerful and intelligent).

Please quit sending me "Discord & Telegram Clones". By all means explore development, experiment, and make your own clients... especially messengers, but fuck man pump the brakes (no, rip the e-brake) on trying to pawn these off as "clones".

After almost a decade of use on these apps, as much as I really don't want to admit, they have truly pioneered a lot of online/digital modern communications. Though the people and companies behind them are everything what is wrong with world, the actual UX has had so much thought and AB testing, as well as live production testing for years... many mistakes made and lessons learned. Actually doing deeper research you can see how much thought was put into meticulous details, though definitely not perfect from my own personal bias as well as different schools of thought for design logic, but then again... what app is perfect? especially a messenger?

Now, everyone is just wanting to put the most minimal effort into their "creations" and if you have the audience or the reputation, people will just come on board. Nothing new under the sun. Brings me back to the McDonalds Kiosk AI meme... yeah I made that order.

The anti-surveillance design style for

is inspired by real life experiences. Often taking elements of the real, physical world of day-to-day life and carrying the same messaging through a digital medium. It is not always supposed to be identical, but more so focused on the symbolism, visual communication, and underlying themes.

The act of wanting privacy and freedom alone seem to be an act of rebellion these days, when truthfully they should be the default. Naive to assume it seems as reality hardly matches expectations, but in a surveillance state, just wanting your personal information to be shared with the direct people you want to share with seems to be asking too much, there are some that feel entitled to that information (insanity, I know).

Privacy in 2026 God forbid a man just wants to enjoy his own freedom without negatively imposing on his fellow man.

Can't express how excited I am for what is to coming in the next couple of months here for us, Vector users, and everyone. 20 months into development and I can begin to see more clearly what it looks like to rely on this infrastructure for a majority of social interactions online. For many months, I've had more activity in my Vector client than I have in Discord, but that's also because after this last bear I think people who had been around forever in crypto even left (Discord + Telegram). :kek:

Since 2017, this is the first big pivot in tech for me that had nothing to do directly with blockchain and crypto. Yes, there are underlying themes and commonalities, but also a standalone focus on privacy and freedom tech. Feels good to have made the leap into a new territory, but also not entirely new (Privacy, FOSS).

Anyways, I just like documenting steps along the way for anyone that is interested. There are a lot of people on the outside who just see apps, websites, and projects and just think they are lucky and successful and you don't really get to see a lot behind the scenes, the late hours, the struggles, the problems, the challenges, the day-to-day, and people often only highlight their small and large victories. Today, it's just an update, but if you are building something my only advice to you is learn to enjoy the process. The farmer doesn't plant seeds and expect to bear fruit the next morning. 🙌

We've been steady improving the overall

experience, especially on mobile, and working hard to get it towards more of a universal standard that you and the world are already familiar with. Yes, there is still a long ways to go, but we are enjoying the journey and certainly enjoying it with all of you like-minded privacy and freedom tech lovers. You guys have made this experience for

and myself much more rewarding.

For about the past 18+ months, we have been using Vector daily for communications and though it is not ideal just yet for the full Vector workflow, the next big step will accommodate that need and also open up many doors with v0.5.0 (desktop widescreen). In my perspective, this will become the means in which I connect to a good portion of the web for my personal online experience. Once it is ready, it will be a universal nexus for everything social: private comms for DMs, private group chats, public and private communities, bots, plugins/add-ons, games, and much more. No, this isn't just saying that, we already have functional, early iterations that have been working for months towards a year at this point. If you've been around, you know precisely what I'm talking about. I highly look forward to this chapter of Vector, where people can truly customize their own experiences, exactly how they want.

Seems feedback was most well received on this design with some of the line breaks, where it makes the middle layer appear to be floating between. Added some colors, many great gradients to choose from, but I wanted it to retain the resemblance of a water drop, which is why I played with blue tones. Still experimenting with the typography styles.

Exciting day for Vector, certainly not a flex, but a moment to be grateful for where we are and how far we have come since development about 18 months ago... no real clear direction, but a solid purpose.

Couldn't be happier to be working aside a gigabrain and gigaheart,

. What a blessing to wake up everyday and get to work on what you want, what drives you and what motivates you. This whole project started because of the deprecation of privacy among really ALL mainstream messengers and enshittification as a whole.

It feels like things are finally starting to take form.

I was watching random Cyberpunk-inspired design videos yesterday and came across a video of them using the first font I ever made in 2023 and published free and open-source called SAIBA-45.

It's a nice feeling, but every time you look over your past work (in most cases) you always see ways of how you would improve it and optimize it, but for many projects if you don't iterate and publish, they stay in the graveyard forever. That was the thought process behind that v1, just get it out and optimize/modify later.
