Dolly Parton is the best of us.
Of course her music is an unparalleled gift, but I don’t know if many know about her Imagination Library.
As a children’s court judge I get many cases involving kids in all manner of vulnerable situations. I would sign up all the children to Imagination Library. Dolly sent each child an age-appropriate book every month, and all those kids continue to get a new book, every month.
Sometimes these kids are moving around between shelters or relatives and all they have are some clothes, and these books. We always make sure the books go with them.
It is hard to put into words the gift of the world coming in every month for these kids.
That’s what Dolly Parton chose to do (quietly) with her wealth.
She will be deeply missed, but her mark on the world will live on.

We love you Minnesota.
I wish I could travel back in time and tell a distressed 14-year-old me that I would live to see a resistance movement of 55 year old women spontaneously singing the Purple Rain album and pastors on the street in the same non-violence drilled by MLK in -11 weather.

Your casual reminder that the The American Psychiatric Association's Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5) outlines specific criteria and factors related to Narcissistic Personality Disorder. There are nine criteria and a diagnosis requires as least 5.
A certain leader's recent tweet hits all nine like clarion bells.

Just admit you have no idea the amount of struggle one must face to qualify for SNAP for your kids and move on.

In northern NM, almost all violence against women services and tribal justice systems work under DOJ grant programs. This is what the dashboard for administation looks like today.
Note that this is a clear Hatch Act violation, and one that DoJ's own grant terms require us to report to the Office of Special Counsel. The online reporting for OSC? Also turned off.

Benito Mussolini created the word 'fascism.' He defined it as 'the merging of the state and the corporation.' He also said a more accurate word would be 'corporatism.' This was the definition in Webster's up until 1987 when a corporation bought Webster's and changed it to exclude any mention of corporations. —Adam McKay

Take heart friends:
The reason they rush to fly the immigrants off to other countries is because their cases are flawed and weak, and they can't withstand the rule of law.
The reason they make dictates by executive order is because they can't lead lawmaking, even this spineless Congress.
The reason they ban journalists and research science is that because their ideas are too weak to survive the marketplace of ideas.

This week, the Trump administration cancelled all grant programs under the Violence Against Women Act. These grants fund most court protective order programs.
At the same time, Trump declares you are a domestic terrorist if you deface a Tesla.

Friends,
Today at the college the classroom I was going to lecture Juvenile Law in was locked, unexpectedly. I called security and they sent a uniformed security guy to come check my ID and open it. The Officer, and the checking of my papers, in front of a hallway full of my students waiting to come in…..it made students anxious, worried, and feel unsafe.
I am thinking long and hard about that right now.
May you find comfort and peace today, friends.
