My DisruptHR talk was a first step. More to come.
I got to speak at my first HR conference last week. I’m trying to work out how to bring money itself into serious compensation design conversations. The basic argument is that most of what we do beyond salary/wages simply enables different ways of adjusting for money that decays.
If you employ people in North America or want your workplace to start thinking about bitcoin I would love to talk to you.

We need new ways to describe Bitcoin and its value to the masses. If you follow my work Block Rewards is focused on getting Bitcoin compensation mainstream. The problem from a comp standpoint that all Bitcoiners understand is that money doesn’t work like it used to and that problem is going to get worse.
My mission is to help companies understand why they need to help their staff save in sats.

The error code produced by independently functioning notions of time & value produces a logic system that rests on relentless optimization.
The clock spins in circles while money becomes less valuable each rotation. It produces a form of mania that is visible in the built environment.
The endless proliferation of rectilinear spaces is a form of monothink that self reinforces that logic & makes the system itself invisible.
The matrix is a learned way of thinking.

Why did the attacker completely disregard privacy by consolidating stolen coins into a single address?
How did the attacker, who clearly planed this for a long time, fail to plan to cover their own tracks?
Why did the attacker use KYC'd service providers?
Why did Coldcard make these "wink-wink easter egg" posts about this exact bug around the same time the bug first appeared in the code base?
If it was merely a "retirement attack," why not exercise discretion so you could actually retire?
Why did the timing line up with major politically relevant developments like CLARITY and a Bitcoin Security Coalition?

A good false flag event requires real victims that generate a deep fear in the heart of the observer. One that resonates because it’s relatable. From there the feeling is amplified by sleeper agents and the media machine into an orchestrated mechanism to corral the masses.
When the panic has really taken hold, questioning the event itself is social suicide. The dialogue instead zeroes in on what went wrong and what could be done to prevent it from happening again.
Problem. Reaction. Solution.

The Age of Time is a book about civilization. How humans coordinate, create meaning, and carry it forward across generations.
It explores consciousness and identity as consensus processes. How the mind assembles continuity, and how societies do the same at scale.
It traces the rise of mechanical time as a solution to coordination. A system that allowed humanity to agree on sequence when we could no longer share place.
It looks to architecture as memory. What past civilizations built, and what their creations reveal about how they thought in time.
And it asks a deeper question: What happens when our model of time changes?
For centuries, time has shaped our perception of reality. We inherit it without question. But the system we use compresses experience into an ever-narrowing present.
The signs are everywhere: we build for disposal, optimize for return, and treat time as an input cost.
Bitcoin introduces something different. A process that transforms perception through participation. A clock that does not accelerate. A system where order and value converge.
It points toward a new civilizational relationship with time.

I'm one month away from releasing my next book.
Civilization can be viewed as an immense coordination problem across time.
The mechanical clock was an innovation that enabled a standardization of agreement on sequence but the cost of that innovation was our base understanding of reality.
Time is not what we’ve been told it is.
Bitcoin fixes something much bigger than money.
It is the foundation for a civilization that forms consensus differently.
We are entering the age of time.

Bitcoin is the first system in history where time is an emergent property of consensus rather than authority.
What’s really going on with Bitcoin behind the scenes has to be stranger than fiction.
Governments and Central bankers 100% understand what it represents. High likelihood many high profile people in the space have hidden agendas and hidden masters.
Whatever we see on tv or in print is narrative not truth.
We rationalize the behaviour of an asset based on an incomplete picture driven by our internal need for certainty.
We abstract it to bars and lines and measure its value in numbers.
Bitcoin is an idea and we are trying to quantify its dissemination.

Bitcoin solves a much bigger problem than money.

We’re watching the end of altcoins.
Ground to dust and scattered to the wind.
The AI economy runs on lightning.
There may be other payment networks but not ones where value accrues to token holders.
The monetary singularity starts with the sudden realization that bitcoins value gravity in the online world is inescapable.

Bitcoin is looking for a floor. It is not a number, even though charts try to abstract it into one.
The bottom is when collective desperation, agony, and panic wash away and are replaced with a sense of calm.
The worst is over. When that happens resilience, conviction, rationality step in and sew the most important seed.
Hope.
We are not separate individuals. The market is a collective consciousness. A soup of all of our fear and greed.
The numbers help our rational minds anchor to a structure to try and make sense of this process but it is itself irrational and nonnumerical.
Cycles are a ceremony.
How’s everyone enjoying the singularity?

There is a tidal wave of AI web traffic coming to every industry, every vertical, every profession. An ocean of meaninglessness. AI is the anti-proof of work.
I used to think Bitcoin and AI was a collision of infinite value with a finite system to measure it sensibly. The real battle of consciousness will be discerning real value and imagined.
Proof of work. The idea that energy consumption and expended effort creates something worth something.
Even on X, more and more people are passing of chat created tweets as their own. It’s probably in most cases not because they are intellectually cheating- but because the battle itself obscures in each of us what “work” actually is.
As it simmers to a boil, we reach the collective realization that “work” is not a spectrum, and neither is value.
There is actual value and that value is worth something entirely different than its counterpart.
There is bitcoin and there are other forms of measuring value which at some point in the near future will mean nothing.
The awakening to proof of work is the solution to the impending crisis of meaning and that will be AIs most significant gift to humanity.
A reconnection to meaning and purpose by showing us all what those things are not.

Social media spawned the surveillance economy and later the reality where creating a reel became a serious profession for people. We're living through the birth of the Wall-E world. Where AI brainrot is just contagious enough that we either can't notice or won't call out the fact that most of us are already displaced and obsolete. We are headed towards a crisis of meaning as a species. We are meant to create and have purpose. We are meant to connect with each other in community. Life is supposed to be slow enough that we can stop and smell the roses. Reels are not human connection. They are not actual productivity. Humanity must find a new way to find the human experience in the increasingly inhuman world we inhabit. McKenna's novelty theory is playing out right now to a crescendo.
We are going to have to talk about how weird it is getting out there.

I was at a dinner last night with 8 ultra high net worth individuals. 2 of them owned a few bitcoin and the other 6 none. The two did have literally no idea what they own.
That’s how early we are still.
When I originally released Dao of Bitcoin in 2024 there was a niggling feeling of incompleteness. I’ve been working away on a few small changes and today the 2nd edition is available on Amazon.
Predominately DoB is meant to be a discussion about how an understanding of Bitcoin can transform our relationship to the present moment.
New and revised sections hopefully bring that message forward.
The Dao of Bitcoin is a sense of tranquility that accompanies a comprehension of energy money.

Chicago is a smoking gun for the problem of history. Impossible construction timelines. Few surviving records. The mystery of older maps referencing Chilaga. The Worlds fair of 1893.

Realizing money is fake is step one.

If you spent the last 2 weeks worrying about how low the Bitcoin price might go it's worth considering how much energy and attention gets consumed with things completely out of our control.
A young man once asked a Daoist monk how to stop worrying. The monk responded:
"You worry because your mind is grasping for control.
It tries to assert its power over powerless situations and aims to shield you from the imagined dangers of the future.
But we can never see the future for what it will actually bring. The best we can do is imagine. Therefore, worrying is your mind causing itself pain.
There exists one remedy for this affliction, and this is trust.
You must trust that you will meet the problems of the future the same way you have met and overcame the problems of the past.
Problems themselves are an inevitable and natural part of life. Trust that you will overcome them, and you will gain power over your worries."
Bitcoin will go lower and it will go higher. So far entertaining the calls for 87k seem to have been a waste of time. Worrying won't change anything anyways.
The emotional roller coaster that comes with the volatility of Bitcoin is mostly self inflicted and entirely optional.
First Nation land claims appear to be calling into question titles of up to 95% of privately owned land in BC. Surrey-Cloverdale MLA Elenore Sturko says the B.C government needs to “come clean” about the number of Aboriginal title claims that could impact private land.
I believe we are in the early stages of a transition away from old 20th century ideas about ownership and how we conceptualize physical things as stores of value. The potential dispute in BC is just one way for people to think about the uncertainty that comes with owning physical property and the danger of having that property be your primary financial asset.
We used to till land and pour our lives into it and the state provided protection of our property rights as a service in return. Over the last 50 years real estate became less about living on and caring for land — and more about financial leverage, speculation, and debt.
What people are mostly trying to do with property ownership today is get ahead. To find peace of mind and plan for the future with certainty.
Bitcoin confers a type of ownership that is in many ways preferential to real estate. You can not live in your Bitcoin but it is much harder to have the rights that come with owning that Bitcoin taken away from you. If your goal is to protect the fruits of your labors, you are better off using something that is non-physical, can't be diluted, portable, ageless, and incredibly difficult to confiscate. As a form of property, Bitcoin is immune to most of the negatives that come with owning real estate.
It's very possible we are in the early stages of a large scale transition that will end our current conception of property ownership and how we think about real estate as a financial tool. Bitcoin already today offers a life raft for those who are willing to let go of how we are used to things working.
Growing cracks in the real estate system — both financial and regulatory — create an opportunity to broaden our understanding of why storing financial energy in the digital realm, though unfamiliar, makes sense.
Bitcoin is much more than an investment. It's a zero to one improvement in property rights.
