Sovereignty Summit NZ

Speaker Announcement:

Clarkson

Some people speak at an event. Some people help make it possible.

We’re proud to welcome Rob Clarkson to Sovereignty Summit 2027 as a speaker, key sponsor and one of the volunteers helping bring the Summit to life.

Rob is the CTO and co-founder of Stacked, a Bitcoin and Lightning Network payments platform bringing Bitcoin-native services to New Zealand.

He’s also an open-source developer for the Bitcoin tap-n-go Bolt Card and has previously co-founded a Bitcoin exchange.

Based in the Queenstown Lakes District, Rob has spent years building practical tools that make Bitcoin easier to use in the real world - from payments infrastructure to everyday spending.

His work is grounded in a simple idea: technology should give people more freedom, not less.

At Sovereignty Summit, Rob will bring a builder’s perspective to Bitcoin, Lightning, open-source development and the tools helping turn sound money from an idea into something people can actually use.

And behind the scenes, he’s also helping us build the Summit itself.

We’re incredibly grateful to Rob and Stacked for their support, their time and the work they’re putting into making Sovereignty Summit happen.

What happens when Bitcoin education becomes a physical place, a local community and a tool for real-world freedom?

We’re excited to welcome Jimmy

to Sovereignty Summit 2027.

Jimmy is an entrepreneur, philanthropist, investor and international speaker who has spent more than 20 years building and scaling businesses.

In 2022, he founded The Kostro Foundation, and in 2023 he co-founded the Bitcoin Learning Center in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Since then, it has grown into one of the most active physical Bitcoin education hubs in the world.

Based near the Myanmar border in northern Thailand, Jimmy has seen first-hand how Bitcoin can expand access, individual freedom and sovereignty in places where traditional systems don’t always serve people well.

He has been involved with Bitcoin for nearly a decade and now brings that perspective into his work across education, philanthropy and community development.

At Sovereignty Summit, Jimmy will speak about Bitcoin as Freedom Money, the importance of education, and what it takes to build communities and systems that create lasting impact.

Speaker Announcement: Ioni Appelberg

What do Bitcoin, science fiction, psychedelics, history, space and the human mind have in common?

Ask Ioni Appelberg.

We’re excited to welcome Ioni to Sovereignty Summit 2027.

is a Bitcoin philosopher, author and content creator whose work explores some of the biggest questions about technology, freedom and where humanity might be heading next.

A medical doctor and avid reader with a fascination for science fiction, history, futurism and psychedelics, Ioni takes ideas well beyond the usual Bitcoin conversation. His stories venture into the frontiers of technology, space and consciousness, challenging readers and audiences to think differently about the future we’re building.

He describes himself as a freedom fighter, regular fighter, psychonaut and terrible chess player - which gives you some idea of the conversations we’re looking forward to having with him in Queenstown.

At Sovereignty Summit, Ioni will bring a distinctly philosophical perspective to Bitcoin and sovereignty, asking not only what new technologies make possible, but what kind of humans and societies we want to become as they evolve.

Speaker Announcement:

What happens when Bitcoin media, community and self-sufficiency all meet in one person?

We’re excited to welcome Don Tsell to Sovereignty Summit 2027.

Don is a respected producer, agent and operator in the Bitcoin media space. He is Executive Producer of The Maxis Club Show and its spinoff, Tselly and Frens, and supports creators, shows and strategic partnerships across the wider Bitcoin ecosystem.

But Tselly's work doesn’t stop at media.

He also owns Chicken Tender Farms, an off-grid bird farm built around self-sufficiency and self-sovereignty, where even the waste has a purpose — including using bird manure as part of the energy story around Bitcoin mining.

That mix of media, community, Bitcoin and practical self-reliance makes him a natural fit for Sovereignty Summit.

At the Summit, he’ll bring a grounded perspective on what sovereignty looks like when it moves beyond theory and into the way we work, build, communicate and live.

Speaker Announcement: Azuraye Wycoff

What if a local economy could work more like an ecosystem?

We’re excited to welcome Azuraye Wycoff to Sovereignty Summit 2027.

Azuraye is the founder and operator of Yellow Barn Farm in Boulder, Colorado, where she runs six interconnected businesses as one regenerative economy - spanning composting, local food distribution, events, landscaping and regenerative agriculture.

Her work is built around a different way of thinking about infrastructure: money moves like water, businesses grow like a root system, and resources cycle back into the land they came from.

Through Yellow Barn Farm, Azuraye is demonstrating what local resilience can look like in practice, creating systems where food, business, community and land support one another rather than operating in isolation.

She also writes The Stalk Market Times, a weekly column exploring food, systems and the economics of staying put.

At Sovereignty Summit, Azuraye will bring a practical perspective to the Food, Farming & Land pillar, exploring how regenerative thinking can strengthen local economies, communities and the places we call home.

Why Queenstown?

Because some conversations need space.

Space to think differently. Space to challenge assumptions. Space to step outside the noise and look at the bigger picture.

Queenstown is one of those places.

Surrounded by lakes, mountains and open country, it’s a destination that naturally pulls you out of routine. It’s remote enough to feel different, connected enough to bring people together, and bold enough to match the conversations we’re having at Sovereignty Summit.

Sovereignty is about choice, resilience and the freedom to build life on your own terms. Queenstown reflects that spirit.

It’s also one of the world’s great bucket-list destinations.

Come for the Summit. Stay for the mountains, the trails, the food, the wineries, the adventure, the stillness and the kind of scenery that reminds you there’s a much bigger world beyond the screen.

For two days in April, we’ll bring together people from around the world to talk about sound money, technology, health, privacy, family, community and the future.

And we’ll do it in a place that makes you think a little bigger.

How do good ideas spread?

Through books shared between friends. Podcasts listened to on long drives. Conversations that challenge what we thought we knew. People willing to ask better questions and share what they’ve learned.

The Education & Connection pillar at Sovereignty Summit is about keeping ideas open, accessible and alive.

We’ll explore how learning happens beyond traditional institutions, how communities pass on knowledge, and why free exchange matters in a world where information is abundant but meaningful connection can still be hard to find.

Because education isn’t only about collecting information. It’s about developing the confidence to think critically, test ideas, learn from others and keep changing your mind when the evidence demands it.

Sovereignty grows when people have access to knowledge, and when they have communities where that knowledge can be discussed, challenged and shared freely.

That’s what we’re building in Queenstown.

What are we building all of this for?

For many of us, the answer is simple: our families, our children and the communities we want them to grow up in.

The Family & Community pillar at Sovereignty Summit explores the relationships and local networks that give sovereignty meaning in everyday life.

We’ll look at how strong families, connected communities and resilient local economies can help people become less isolated, more capable and better supported.

Because independence doesn’t mean doing everything alone.

It means having people you can rely on. Skills you can share. Local businesses you can support. Children who grow up surrounded by strong values, practical knowledge and a real sense of belonging.

A sovereign future isn’t only built through technology or money. It’s built around people.

Where does your food come from?

Who grows it, how is it produced, and how resilient are the systems we rely on to feed ourselves?

The Food, Farming & Land pillar at Sovereignty Summit explores our relationship with the land and the systems that sustain us.

We’ll look at real food, regenerative agriculture, clean energy and responsible land stewardship, and hear from people working to build healthier, more resilient ways of producing what we need.

Because sovereignty isn’t only about money or technology. It’s also about understanding the essentials we depend on every day, supporting stronger local systems and thinking more carefully about how we use the resources around us.

From the soil beneath our feet to the energy that powers our communities, these conversations are about building resilience for the long term.

Your health might be the most personal form of sovereignty there is.

Yet it's easy to become disconnected from it. We outsource decisions, treat symptoms in isolation and often wait until something goes wrong before paying attention to what our bodies are telling us.

The Health & Wellness pillar at Sovereignty Summit is about taking a more active role in your own wellbeing.

We'll explore functional approaches to health, nutrition, fitness, mental wellbeing and longevity, bringing together different perspectives on how we can better understand our bodies and make more informed choices about the way we live.

It's not about finding one perfect approach to health. It's about asking better questions, understanding your options and recognising the role that everyday choices can play in how we feel, function and age.

Because sovereignty over your money matters. Sovereignty over your data matters. But having the health and vitality to enjoy the life you're building matters too.

Who owns your data?

Who decides where you can go, what you can say, or how you live?

Privacy, property and freedom are easy to take for granted - until they're challenged.

At Sovereignty Summit, we'll explore the systems and technologies that help individuals retain ownership and agency in an increasingly connected world.

From Bitcoin and self-custody to digital privacy, property rights and freedom of expression, this pillar asks an important question:

How do we build a future where people have more control over their own lives - not less?

These conversations aren't about fear. They're about responsibility, resilience and creating systems that empower individuals, families and communities to thrive.

Join us as we explore practical ideas, hear from world-leading speakers and challenge assumptions about what freedom looks like in the 21st century.

Speaker Announcement: Piers Cockram from

What if the technology you rely on every day was truly yours?

Piers is the founder of mineracks, where he's building the next generation of sovereign technology - from self-hosted cloud storage and private AI to Bitcoin infrastructure and self-custody tools.

His work is driven by a simple idea: you should own your data, control your money and choose the technology you depend on.

From developing tools that let people securely back up their own data, to creating hands-on simulations that make Bitcoin self-custody easier to learn, Piers is helping make digital sovereignty practical and accessible.

Beyond building software and hardware, Piers is an active contributor to the Bitcoin community, helping lead the Bitcoin Brisbane meetup and regularly speaking at Bitcoin events across Australia and around the world.

Technology isn't just changing the world. It's changing who holds the power.

Most of us use technology every day without questioning who controls it, who owns our data, or whether there's another way.

The Technology & Innovation pillar at Sovereignty Summit explores the tools and ideas helping build a more decentralised future.

From open-source Bitcoin mining and self-custody hardware to Lightning payments and decentralised computing, we'll dive into the technologies giving individuals greater ownership, resilience and freedom.

This isn't about adopting every new innovation. It's about understanding the technologies that reduce dependence on centralised systems and put more control back into your hands.

What is sound money?

Sound money holds its value over time.

It can't be easily created, manipulated, or inflated away.

Throughout history, societies have gravitated toward forms of money that are scarce, durable, and trusted.

Today, more people are asking:

What makes good money? How does money shape our lives? And what happens when money becomes less sound?

These are some of the questions we'll be exploring at Sovereignty Summit 2027.

https://sovereigntysummit.nz

Where will The Sovereignty Summit will be held?

In some beige conference building with overbearing LED lights everywhere?

Speaker Announcement: Helena Andrejko

It's exciting to welcome Helena to Sovereignty Summit 2027.

Therapist, anthropologist and writer, Helena explores the fascinating relationship between monetary systems and human consciousness.

Raised behind the Iron Curtain, her lifelong pursuit of freedom has taken her from technology and depth psychology to Bitcoin, where she discovered a powerful framework for both external and internal sovereignty.

Drawing on psychology, anthropology and sound money principles, Helena examines how the systems we live within shape our beliefs, behaviours and sense of agency - and how Bitcoin can help realign us with truth, responsibility and long-term thinking.

Her work offers a unique perspective on one of the Summit's core themes: that true sovereignty begins within, but flourishes when supported by decentralised systems.

📍 Queenstown, New Zealand 🗓️ 2–3 April 2027

Sound money is the foundation. But what does it really mean to live a sovereign life?

In the lead-up to Sovereignty Summit, we’ll be exploring seven domains where sovereignty moves beyond theory and becomes something we practise:

1. Technology & Innovation
2. Privacy, Property & Freedom
3. Health & Wellness
4. Food, Farming & Land
5. Family & Community
6. Education & Connection
7. Philosophy, Creativity & Spirituality

Over the coming months, we’ll unpack each domain here - sharing ideas, asking important questions and introducing some of the people helping to shape these conversations.

Then, at Sovereignty Summit, we’ll bring these ideas to life with expert speakers, practical discussions and real-world perspectives across every domain.

These are not separate conversations. They are deeply connected.

The technology we use shapes our privacy. The food we eat shapes our health. The way we educate our children shapes the future. Our families, communities, creativity and beliefs give freedom meaning.
