Absolutely hate this. While I make my own Caesar dressing, I have a bottle of Primal Kitchen just in case, and I switched to Chosen brand mayo a year ago. Also occasionally bought Kettle avocado oil chips. I mostly cook with tallow, but it just sucks to have spent more money on products that turned out to be scams.

Last batch was way too diluted with water, so I have a lot more bones and just tried to cover them this time. Will push to fully submerge when veggies underneath collapse a bit.

Tried 30-second flips for the cast iron cook tonight on this ribeye. Crust was not great, but turned out perfectly medium rare. My thermometer has a tough time on things like steak, so was kind of guessing. But best steak I’ve cooked at home.

I’ve sworn off Kroger steak because it’s almost always lousy, although I usually get it on sale. This was on sale through delivery but an individually wrapped one. Was a very good cut.

Right now I eat steak maybe once a month. One day I hope to eat a butcher steak every night for dinner. Preferably with a goth baddie. Fingers crossed.

I am in the training process to be a deacon at my church. This spring was a college-level theology class going through the Reformed tradition, our church philosophy, and Presbyterian governance. We’ve had a little independent work this summer before an exam next month and then interviews with elders.

They might kick me out if this gets out, but I’ve usually not been the biggest fan of Tim Keller’s writing. This however, was very, very well done. Every time I had a question, I’d find it was the subject of the next chapter.

I've been using AI in earnest since early 2025. I got a ChatGPT subscription last spring when I was consistently running into message/photo limits. I was asking a lot of questions about home projects.

I've used AI very frequently as a research and thinking partner, but it's been more of a challenge to get into building. I've had Claude Code at work and used that to create a Mac Claude Code onboarding page for dummies (me), but agentic workflows have been more of a mental leap for me. At work, some of that has had to do with access issues and bifurcated tools that disallow me from making obvious flows to solve administrative tasks.

I recently upgraded my ChatGPT subscription so I could use Codex, and I made an agent that creates Meetup events for Cincinnati Bitcoin. I tinkered a lot last weekend, creating a couple templates and md files and trying to find the right workflows for different types of sessions. There were some limitations since my Meetup subscription doesn't grant access to APIs. But today, I one-shot an event successfully. It created the page, event name, updated the description for the topic, created a new image and got me ready to publish in about seven minutes. Only thing I had to do was manually upload the photo. It's not able to do that and I haven't found a solution yet.

I am mildly technical depending on the circle. On Nostr and in Bitcoin, I frequently feel like a dummy. So I am sharing as encouragement for anyone who may be in the same boat!

I don’t think we get our bull run til it’s clear why bitcoin crashed. We were able to piece together the story in real time in 2022. We’ve gotten weak and sparse speculation since this began in October.

Baby’s first tallow render. This was with one mesh filter pass. The third jar was cloudy with sediment as I was getting to the end of the slow cooker, but all in all it turned clean and smells pretty neutral. This was with beef kidney fat, which is the good stuff to use for tallow.
