A leading member of the #chaosCartel announced they are holding our images and videos hostage.
They're using “popularity” - a metric they created and control - to decide whose content is worthy of being shown in high quality. We are even more beholden to the Cartel than we thought. The resolution of our photos and videos is only unfucked if it makes them money.
Proving once again that this is how the C.H.A.O.S. Cartel sees the world. We work for them. They build incentives like this to keep us churning out more content to feed their attention-harvesting machine. Keeping us addicted and wanting.
#NextBlock has no interest in deciding what “deserves” to be shown in high resolution. We have a better solution for our social media app.
We know that all social media posts are not equal. On NextBlock, your photo and video posts disappear (expire) after 21 days, unless the cost is covered to keep it around.
In a perfect world, posts worth keeping should pay for themselves. #Zaps come from people who like your content.
No zaps? No problem!
NextBlock’s #AttentionMarketplace has you covered. Earn sats from watching ads. Use those sats to fund your own social media activity.
NextBlock’s “Attention Marketplace” is a big 💡 that has the potential to impact multiple dimensions of our digital lives.
We’ve spent almost a year thinking this through. We really like this feature of NextBlock. Still, we wouldn’t be a real couple (shout-out to
) if we didn’t have some disagreements. Today's disagreement is...
Who decides if a post lives or dies❓
wants the “market” to decide. Meaning as long as the cost is covered by anyone by the 21st day, the post should live.
wants the decision to lie solely with the original poster. Meaning only they decide whether the post lives or dies.
Is individual ownership more important than the market wanting to keep something up?
What do you think?
