appeasement manifests through fear of discomfort. it's an offering of peace through self-erasure; essentially an attempt to avoid or dismiss that discomfort through emotional absence. this feels less safe to Her because it signals instability; the motive is self-protection.
healthy submission repairs and stabilizes the connection. it signals safety and harmony through accountability—which becomes an offering of peace through steady presence; the motive is reconnection.
in this way appeasement makes deference a selfish plea: "i'm sorry. please don't be upset so i won't feel this discomfort."
whereas submission makes deference into emotional presence: "i'm sorry. i care about your comfort. i want to make it right for You."
