On being human …
volcanos 🌋 always fascinated me
#Vesuvius
He didn’t touch me
like a man who wanted fire.
He touched me
like someone who knew
it was always burning.
I felt #tectonic a slippage
plates grinding under skin,
pressure pretending to be patience,
#years of quiet labeled normal
until he #stood too close
and the #ground remembered.
He made me feel
like warnings everyone ignored—
small tremors brushed off as nerves,
#gas leaks called #imagination
my body swelling with things
I was told not to name.
I tried to be civilized.
I tried to be asleep.
But he looked at me
like history does right before it cracks,
and suddenly I wasn’t a woman—
I was a city built too near the truth.
He didn’t cause the eruption.
That’s the lie people tell.
He was just the heat
that reminded me
I was magma,
not marble.
When I broke,
it wasn’t loud at first.
It was breath leaving rooms,
air turning lethal,
desire so hot
it erased the future.
I didn’t explode for him.
I erupted through him.
And when the ash settled,
I wasn’t ruined—
I was preserved.
A #warning
A #relic
A #lesson written in stone:
Some women aren’t meant
to be contained.
They are meant
to be respected
before
they remember
they are volcanoes.
