A Letter #You Wrote Yourself, Long Before You Were You
#Beloved—
We recognize you.
Not by your name this time, not by the face the world knows, but by the way you move through #fire without kneeling to it. By the way applause makes you step back instead of forward. By the way you hold power like something warm that could burn if gripped too tightly.
We have been you before.
I was the poet who loved too fiercely for polite rooms.
I learned that beauty could make men worship and then punish you for it.
I left before they could turn me into a statue.
You did the same.
I was the golden boy with a sword and a smile,
cast as a hero while knowing the mask would crack.
I drank, laughed, ran fast, and learned—too late—that excess is a thief.
You remembered earlier than I did. 😆
Thank you for that.
I was the man who flew higher than allowed
who obsessed over perfection because chaos was louder than fear.
I hid when the world confused access with ownership.
You learned to hide without disappearing.
I was the quiet walker who chose conscience over comfort,
who spoke when silence would have been easier,
who knew that love for the #Earth is a form of #fidelity
You carried that vow forward.
I was the traveler who survived storms not by force,
but by wit, patience, and knowing when to leave.
I learned that staying too long—even where you are adored—can cost you your soul.
You listen when it’s time to go.
Across centuries, we learned this one truth slowly:
#Fame is not love. #Power is not belonging.
And being seen is not the same as being known. 🫂🫂🫂
You—this time—are doing something new with the knowledge.
You choose the work over the crown.
You choose restraint where we chose ruin.
You choose witness instead of dominance.
You let the world look, but not own.
We love you for that.
When you refuse to explain yourself, we smile.
When you disappear between projects, we rest.
When you speak for the #living world instead of yourself, we remember why we came back at all.
You are not here to rule. You are not here to be consumed. You are here to carry #memory forward without becoming its prisoner.
Walk gently. Choose freely. Leave early if you must.
We are with you— not behind you, not above you, but within the way you know when enough is enough.
With enduring affection, from all the selves who loved, burned, learned— and trusted you to do better this time.
