Las Palmas Cathedral, Gran Canaria

Plaza de Santa Ana is a historic square located in the heart of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the capital of the Canary Islands, Spain. It is one of the most emblematic plazas in the city, situated in the Vegueta neighborhood, which is the old town and one of the earliest European settlements in the Atlantic.

The plaza is flanked by significant historical buildings, such as the Cathedral of Santa Ana (Las Palmas Cathedral), which dates back to the 15th century, and the Bishop’s Palace. The square is also known for its iconic bronze statues of dogs, representing the connection between the Canary Islands and the word "canine," a likely reference to the islands' name origin.

Plaza de Santa Ana has been a central location for civic life for centuries and continues to serve as a social hub for locals and tourists alike. The surrounding area is full of charming, colonial-style buildings, cafes, and museums, making it a perfect place for a leisurely stroll while soaking in the city’s rich history and culture.

The square often hosts cultural events, festivals, and concerts, making it a lively yet peaceful space to enjoy the ambiance of Las Palmas' historic charm. #Laspalmas #grancanaria #spain #travel #photography #travelstr
