Binance has just suffered the BIGGEST HACK in cryptocurrency history. 🔴
$6.3 billion across 10 blockchains, with $4.9 billion stolen in the first 14 minutes.
But no private keys were leaked.
I’ll explain how it happened, where the money went, and who may be behind it.
On October 29, at 4:05 PM (New York time), funds began flowing out of Binance’s hot wallets, starting on the XRP Ledger.
Over the next three hours, funds were drained across 10 networks. Withdrawals were only paused at 6:15 PM, 2 hours and 10 minutes later.
That’s more than 4 times the size of the 2025 Bybit hack ($1.40 billion).
How did the attacker get in?
According to Binance, the breach began through an engineer’s laptop, among other intrusion points. From there, the attacker gained access to the system responsible for signing the exchange’s withdrawals.
No one broke the encryption. The attacker turned Binance’s own signing machine against it.
On Ethereum, the attack was more sophisticated.
A recent upgrade, EIP-7702, allows a regular wallet to execute smart contract code. All it takes is a signature.
At 10:59 AM (New York time), hours earlier, the attacker deployed a contract designed for one purpose: draining wallets.
At 4:20 PM (New York time), the attacker used Binance 14, one of the exchange’s largest hot wallets, to sign the connection to this contract.
He sent 50 authorizations at once. Each one targeted a position in the wallet’s transaction queue (the nonce). Only one needed to hit. One did.
Three minutes later came the sweep.
A single transaction drained Binance 14: 167,000 ETH and 63 different tokens.
Approximately $2.5 billion in a single block — the batch of transactions the network finalizes every 12 seconds. It was the largest single movement of the entire attack.
And the wallet remained connected to the attacker’s contract.
Everything sent to it was swept again. A 200 million USDT deposit disappeared in 72 seconds. Another Binance account lost 780 million USDC.
Binance only severed that connection at 8:10 PM, almost four hours later.
Then the race to freeze the funds began.
At 5:01 PM, Tether froze 971 million USDT. At 5:04 PM, Circle froze 823 million USDC. Ripple, WLFI, and Arbitrum followed afterward.
That’s the difference with stablecoins: they have a centralized issuer that can freeze tokens instantly.
The attacker knew this.
In less than 20 minutes, he converted $325 million in stablecoins into ETH. He was willing to take a loss of approximately $40 million just to escape the freezing mechanisms.
On Tron, another $300 million in USDT was converted into TRX.
ETH and TRX have no centralized issuer. No one can freeze these assets.
There was even a ripple effect on Aave.
The attacker deposited $60 million in USDT there and borrowed ETH against it. At 5:47 PM, Aave froze new deposits and borrowing as a precaution.
Many users rushed to withdraw. USDT utilization hit 100%: those who remained could only withdraw once someone repaid their debt.
And where did the Bitcoin go?
18,270 BTC went through a peel chain: a series of transactions in which each step splits off a portion and forwards the remainder.
In this case, each step split off 1,000 BTC. This left 19 addresses, 17 of which hold 1,000 BTC each.
So far, not a single satoshi has moved out.
Breaking down the numbers.
Of the $6.36 billion tracked by TRM Labs, approximately $2.70 billion (42%) has been frozen.
The remaining ~$3.66 billion is still freely movable, mostly in ETH and BTC.
On Ethereum alone, 214,720 ETH are sitting in two newly created wallets. I checked at 8:33 AM today.
And what about Binance’s reserves?
On October 29, a net 22,158 BTC left Binance’s wallets, the second-largest daily outflow since 2017, according to CryptoQuant.
The largest occurred on December 13, 2022, in the aftermath of FTX’s collapse.
But 82% of that outflow was the hack itself: withdrawals remained paused for much of the night.
Why TraderTraitor, a Lazarus Group subsidiary?
ZachXBT tracked the money. Part of the stolen funds passed through THORChain, a bridge that enables cross-chain cryptocurrency swaps.
The funds then landed at an address that had previously received money from the Bitget hack, which was attributed to the same group.
According to ZachXBT, the same actor was behind both incidents. TRM Labs and Chainalysis identify TraderTraitor with "high confidence."
And the pattern keeps repeating. Bybit, Bitget, Binance: they don't break encryption; they target people and processes.
This time, no government has officially confirmed attribution.
Binance said today that it has already begun recovering assets and has allocated more than $6.34 billion from its own reserves, including $5 billion already held in the same tokens that were stolen.
The remainder will be purchased on the open market and through OTC deals, which could take time.
The approximately $3 billion in frozen funds is excluded from this calculation.
So, is everything resolved?
No. The response was swift: billions were frozen within an hour, and the coverage was announced the same night.
But there are still unanswered questions about how 50 authorizations got through. It's also unclear whether the frozen funds will be recovered.
And billions of dollars in ETH and BTC remain in the hacker's hands.
The lesson is the same as always.
The world's largest exchange lost $6.3 billion through an employee's laptop. Your balance there is safe because the company has reserves, not because its system was foolproof.
For trading, use more than one exchange. For long-term storage, self-custody.

In 2011, Mike Caldwell minted 11,000 #Bitcoin coins and bars.
Soon afterward, the operation was shut down by the government.
The surviving pieces are among the rarest artifacts in Bitcoin’s history.
Relics that one day extraterrestrials may be fascinated by when they discover them here on Earth.

Holy shit. Claude just recovered 5 Bitcoin that had been lost for 11 years.
3.5 trillion passwords tested.
Not a single one worked.
The guy tried everything:
→ RTX 4090 → Hashcat → btcrecover → Old hard drives → Gmail → iCloud → 8 weeks of brute force
Zero results.
As a last resort,
he dumped ALL of his old college files into Claude.
The AI didn’t “hack” the password.
It found an old backup created before the password was changed, identified a bug in btcrecover’s decryption logic, and extracted the correct private keys.
5 BTC.
Locked away for 11 years.

Google Quantum AI published a paper yesterday reducing by ~20x the estimated number of physical qubits needed to break the cryptography that protects Bitcoin. It would take ~500,000 physical qubits to execute the attack in minutes.
Scary headline. But the most powerful quantum computer in the world today—Google’s own Willow—has 105 qubits. The gap between 105 and 500,000 is not linear; it’s exponentially complex in engineering terms. The paper itself states that such a machine does not exist.
What the coverage ignores:
Elliptic curve cryptography doesn’t protect just Bitcoin. It protects the global banking system, SWIFT, stock exchanges, military communications, every HTTPS website on the planet. If a quantum computer breaks Bitcoin, it breaks everything. The difference is that centralized systems can deploy silent patches. Bitcoin requires consensus—it’s slower, but transparent and auditable.
And Bitcoin is already preparing. BIP 360 has been accepted into the official repository, with a functional implementation on testnet using post-quantum Dilithium signatures (NIST standard), 50+ miners, 100,000+ blocks, and an active community of 100+ cryptographers. The co-author of BIP 360 estimates ~7 years for full migration. Google itself is racing to migrate its systems by 2029—not because the threat is imminent, but because preparation takes time. Bitcoin is on the same path.
A detail few mentioned: the paper’s co-author is Justin Drake, a researcher at the Ethereum Foundation. Vitalik Buterin has already published a post-quantum roadmap for Ethereum and publicly reinforced the urgency. Nothing against it, but it’s worth noting: those competing for second place have an incentive to highlight weaknesses in the first. The paper is legitimate. The narrative amplification isn’t always.
The market understood. #Bitcoin is up +3% in the last 24 hours, marking a third consecutive day of gains, while “quantum-resistant” tokens pumped 50%. The pattern repeats: apocalyptic headlines, memecoins ride the hype, and Bitcoin keeps doing what it has always done.
Post-quantum cryptography is an engineering problem with a known solution. What doesn’t have a known solution is printing money infinitely and expecting nothing to happen.
Anthropic’s Claude Code source code got leaked. Someone made a fork. The fork reached 32.6K stars and 44.3K forks.
The developer got scared of being sued. Creative solution: they used OpenAI’s Codex to convert the entire codebase from TypeScript to Python.
AI being used to get around copyright. This is going to be a huge debate in the coming years.
It’s not just developer creativity. It’s a new legal question: if AI rewrites code in another language, is that a derivative work or a new one?
The future of software copyright just got a lot more complicated.

🥷 127,000 BTC.
This wasn’t just a seizure.
It may have been the first Bitcoin war between superpowers.
On Oct 14, 2025, the U.S. DOJ announced it had seized 127,271 BTC.
But the real story is how those coins appeared.
They were linked to Chen Zhi, a Cambodian-Chinese billionaire behind the Prince Group.
Accused of fraud, human trafficking, and money laundering across Asia.
But those coins…
weren’t just “criminal funds.”
They came from a forgotten hack in 2020.
💸 Dec 29, 2020
127,272 BTC vanished.
Gone in hours.
Stolen from LuBian, a mining pool controlling ~6% of global hashrate.
The attack was surgical.
No servers hacked.
Just a fatal flaw:
👉 weak randomness in key generation
Attackers predicted private keys… and drained everything.
Then… nothing.
For YEARS.
The funds sat untouched. Silent.
Until 2021–2022…
Messages started appearing on-chain:
“Please return our funds.”
“We will pay a reward.”
That’s when the truth leaked:
👉 Prince Group was connected to the stolen BTC
But still… nothing moved.
Until June 2024.
💥 The wallets suddenly woke up.
Funds started moving.
Blockchain analysts tracked the destination…
And found something shocking:
🇺🇸 U.S. GOVERNMENT ADDRESSES
👉 https://blossom.primal.net/9e7aaa3524320f122d9f0b753abb1b2d399f19ed2e90f388e789073026c1f527.jpg
Just like that…
The biggest hack in Bitcoin history
became
⚖️ an official U.S. seizure
But here’s the problem:
Bitcoin doesn’t care about laws.
👉 You need private keys.
So the real question is:
HOW did the U.S. get them?
The DOJ says:
“The keys were in possession of Chen Zhi.”
👉 Legal seizure. Not hacking.
But there’s a gap.
No warrants disclosed. No device seizures. No cooperation details.
Nothing.
So theories exploded:
• He was forced to hand over the keys • A covert cyber operation • Intelligence-level recovery
Then China responded.
🇨🇳
A 47-page report accused the U.S. of:
👉 state-sponsored theft
Their argument:
• 4 years dormant • then perfectly synchronized movement
Too clean. Too precise.
To Beijing, this wasn’t justice.
It was:
👉 digital piracy by a superpower
Now think about this:
For the first time ever…
Two global powers are disputing
NOT land NOT oil
…but
🧠 PRIVATE KEYS
❄️ Welcome to the Digital Cold War
Where governments fight for control of value

At the event “The United States will bomb Iran by…”, Polymarket offers a range of dates for traders to speculate on—from 1 or 2 days to as long as 4 months.
We observe that the farther out the deadline, the higher the probability it resolves as YES. That’s because there is more time for the event to occur—in this case, for the U.S. to bomb Iran.
Another aspect is the possibility of extracting gains from markets that are nearing expiration and have a high probability of resolving as NO.
If you bet that there will be no U.S. bombing of Iran by today (02/17), you earn 0.6% on the invested capital in one day.
For February 22, the return rises to 7%, but the position will only settle in five days.

January 11, 2009: Jason Finney heard the machines humming in the attic.
The boy was forbidden to go up there when his father’s computers, Hal’s, were turned on.
That night, his dad had an important mission: to receive the first #Bitcoin transaction in history.
Jason was 26 years old when, on a Saturday—January 10, 2009—his father fired up the machines and sent a tweet from the attic that would go down in history.
#Bitcoin had barely been launched, and Hal Finney had already downloaded the software and was mining coins at home.
It was no coincidence.
Harold Thomas Finney II was the perfect figure to receive Satoshi Nakamoto’s torch 🗽
He was one of the first employees of the PGP Corporation.
In 2004, he created a system of reusable proof-of-work. He was also an active participant on the mailing list where Satoshi announced #BTC.

Hal and Fran Finney had two children.
The kids grew up immersed in technology. They had home internet as early as 1991.
Their father was a video game developer who became a cypherpunk activist.
But even by that household’s standards… Hal’s recent obsession was curious.
When Satoshi released the software, Hal rushed to install it, helped fix bugs, and made the famous prediction that “a coin could eventually be worth $10M.”
He began mining.
In January 2009, that attic was humming day and night. Hal was excited.
In early 2009, Jason noticed that his father’s computer processor was running 24 hours a day, seven days a week, at full speed. “He mentioned that he was helping someone test a kind of prototype for an online money system. That’s how he saw it. It wasn’t real—it was a test for a prototype.”
More specifically, this test was the receipt of the first Bitcoin transaction by Hal. Although it was just another step in the process for him, Hal’s role would forever secure him a place in the annals of cryptography around the world.
Two days after the famous tweet, Hal received the first transaction in history:
10 BTC directly from Satoshi Nakamoto.
The emails he exchanged with Satoshi between January 9 and 24 were later made public by Fran Finney: https://www.wsj.com/public/resources/documents/finneynakamotoemails.pdf
The toy took off. The noise in the attic turned into money.
When #BTC hit $1, Hal gave exotic Christmas gifts to the whole family—
like alpaca wool socks, which became legendary.
But he didn’t get to enjoy the rewards of his pioneering role. Everything was about to change.
Every genius carries a cross.
Hal Finney had ALS—a degenerative disease that, between 2011 and 2013, impaired his speech and movement.
The Finney attic fell silent.
Soon after Satoshi disappeared, Hal also stopped mining. See the chart below 👇
Hal had a project to improve a wallet, which he carried forward as far as he could.
When he could no longer type, Hal built a device that allowed him to write using eye movements.
It was 20 times slower than using his fingers, but it worked.
Hal kept programming until he could no longer communicate.
In March 2013, he published a farewell letter titled “Bitcoin and Me.”
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=155054.0
In it, he said he was “comfortable with his legacy.”
In August 2014, he left behind two children, his wife, and a legion of admirers.
Hal was not buried or cremated.
Instead, he was cryopreserved.
He rests in a frozen tank in the Arizona desert, waiting for medicine to advance enough to repair his ailments.
Fran says that Hal “loved change.” He just wanted “to be able to see what the world would become.”
The coins mined in the Finney attic essentially paid for the treatment and gave Hal a dignified end of life.
His children inherited a love for science and freedom.
Perhaps Hal remembers a private key—and if he’s ever brought back, he’ll have a little money to spend.
Erin, the youngest, is a programmer.
Jason became a math teacher and a science fiction writer.
Fran works funding research into the disease that put Hal’s life “on pause.”
Every year, she organizes a half marathon that raises donations in #BTC for the ALSF.

Merry Christmas, a Holy Christmas, to everyone who receives this message!
Christmas is the most beautiful story ever told. It is the fulfillment of thousands of years of prophecies and promises of God to His beloved children; the beginning of the new and eternal covenant.
It is a story marked by flight and deliverance, by a State that orders the mass execution of innocents, by an angel who commands disobedience to unjust laws and the courage to flee without looking back.
And above all, it is the story of the King of Kings — the Son of the God who created the Universe — who chose to be born in a simple manger, in a filthy stable, to redeem the world.

“If you were rich enough to never work again, would you keep playing the games of wealth and status, or would you walk away?”
In the end, this is one of the most important questions: how much is enough for you?
It’s like Naval’s saying: “If you’re not happy with a cup of coffee, you won’t be happy on a yacht.”
When it comes to wealth, the returns are diminishing. If you’re not happy with a few million, would having several make you happy? Probably not.
But we humans have this bias of thinking, “When that thing happens, then I’ll finally enjoy life,” or “Once I get there, then I’ll have made it!”
However, when you do get there, “there” won’t be enough if you haven’t taken care of your psychological well-being along the way.

Around the year 300 A.D., Christians made up roughly 10% of the population of the Roman Empire. They were heavily persecuted and viewed by the elite as a marginal, fanatical sect. Then came Constantine, who ended the persecution in 313 A.D. and began to favor the faith. In just one generation, Christianity surpassed 50% of the empire’s population.

🧡 Happy Bitcoin Whitepaper Day! 🧡
On October 31, 2008, an anonymous whitepaper introduced something radical: a financial system that relied not on intermediaries, but on code and mathematical trust.
On this day, an unknown individual changed the world—and then, after a while, simply disappeared.
No search for fame. No surrender to ego. No movement of a single coin.
By creating Bitcoin, Satoshi gifted humanity one of its greatest inventions: a symbol of freedom, transparency, and decentralization—returning power and agency to the individual.
Because better money means a better world.
Thank you, Satoshi. 🧡

Every Bitcoiner goes through “the moment”:

Throughout human history, defending wealth—whether land, gold, or resources—has always required physical kinetic power: walls, weapons, armies, and human lives.
Defending property has always cost blood.
#Bitcoin introduced a paradigm shift: it is also defended by physical power—but electrical power. It replaces the cost of human lives with the cost of an electricity bill.
Complaining that Bitcoin “uses energy” is like complaining that a hospital uses electricity to keep a patient alive.
It’s the cost of security—but for the first time in history, achieved in a peaceful and universally accessible way.

“Chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks”
Satoshi didn’t create digital money. He created an exit from a broken system that: • Socializes losses • Privatizes gains • Steals through inflation • Bails out banks with your money
16 years later: Fiat system: More broken than ever Bitcoin: 99.98% uptime, zero bailouts needed
So, which experiment really failed?
“Although born within our subjective consciousness, the image of perfection expressed in the ideal points to an objective quality: through the ideal, man’s latent qualities tend to orient themselves outward and transform into acts and works in the world. The ideal is the path by which individual aspirations for happiness flow into the already-open furrows of external reality, leaving the glass dome of dreams and taking shape upon the greater stage of facts and things. Without a defined ideal, even the noblest aspirations remain mere dreams, because there is no immanent moral duty demanding they conform to reality, narrowing in scope so they may be realized in depth. Only the idealist is a realist; the others are either dreamers or cynics. Lacking a measure of what things ought to be, they see them as either better or worse than they are.”

Orwell feared the banning of books. Huxley feared the LACK of REASONS to ban them… once no one was interested in reading them anymore.

Orwell feared that the truth could be HIDDEN from us. Huxley feared that it would be DROWNED in a sea of IRRELEVANCE 🌊

Orwell feared that we would become a REPRESSED culture. Huxley feared that we would become a TRIVIAL culture.

Orwell warned of oppression imposed from the outside. Huxley saw no need for a Big Brother to strip people of their autonomy, maturity, and HISTORY. People would soon learn to LOVE OPPRESSION, to revere the technologies that “undid” their ability to think.

In 1984, people are controlled through the application of PAIN ❌ In Brave New World, control is achieved through the application of PLEASURE ✅ It’s not what we HATE that leads us to ruin. It’s what we DESIRE most.

In the world of #Bitcoin, everything seems motionless until suddenly it all happens at once.
“Slowly, then suddenly.”
Just be patient and keep following your plan.

“If #Bitcoin goes over 100 thousand dollars, you can bet it will reach 1 million.”
John McAfee
Legend!!!

This is one of the hardest things for a new Bitcoin investor to wrap their head around.
But at the same time, it’s one of the simplest to put into practice.
Holding Bitcoin for more than 3 years gives you a 99.3% probability of making a profit.
And yet, some people will still lose money out of impatience.
Bitcoin is a machine that grinds down the impatient — once you understand that, everything changes.
And you don’t need a guru to teach you some flashy strategy, you just need a well-defined plan.

This guy is going to collect a WHOLE BITCOIN just by picking up and reselling CANS for recycling.
The "crypto scrapper" is a family man and has been a holder for years.
If you think "you don’t have money to save," you need to know this story 👇 https://image.nostr.build/5baf6cc84370e85457a6efe4ff581c116ec52d8f6d69f1d5a80a2696dc228d11.jpg
Bruno is a family man from the countryside of São Paulo.
His life changed when he discovered Bitcoin. For at least 2 years, he has been selling cans to stack satoshis.
"Every week, even if it’s just 1 real, I save."
1 kilo of cans (70 units) yields about R$5.50.
If collected daily, that’s R$165 per month—or 0.00026 ₿.
In 3,842 months (a few centuries), if the price stays stable, the cans would yield a whole 1 BTC.
This calculation illustrates the difficulty of becoming a "wholecoiner" nowadays and the importance of diversifying income sources.
Bruno’s journey, it’s worth noting, began when prices were lower.
Along the way, he wrote two educational books for his daughters.
Proof of work is relentless. The wealth the "crypto scrapper" is building goes far beyond the satoshis he stacks.
"Those who want to do it, do it; those who don’t, make excuses" 🤷♀️
If you have a friend who says “I don’t have money to save,” send them this story ✈️

What will really happen is that state-issued currencies will not completely disappear.
They will become hyperinflationary, and that will be the new normal. They will still be used to pay taxes and denominate public debt, but they will be deeply inflationary due to the State’s financial situation:
No State has the ability to pay its infinite debts to banks and its own people without turning on the printing press (and in the process destroying its currency, in which the debt is denominated, thereby reducing the real value of the debt).
They will be far, far less relevant, but at least for the next 50 years they will not cease to exist.

The state never buys anything — it always steals. (Even when it “buys.”)
U.S. Treasury Secretary says: “We will not buy” (Bitcoin); the reserve will only hold confiscated BTC.

Five years ago, MicroStrategy, a $1 billion company, faced ridicule for staking its treasury on Bitcoin, with critics forecasting disaster. Today, it has soared into a $112 billion powerhouse, gaining 11,200% and silencing doubters—proving that bold vision beats conventional skepticism.

🚨Trump is expected to sign an executive order that will officially allow the inclusion of Bitcoin in private retirement plans (401(k)s).
The second-order effects remain to be seen, but this could potentially be bigger than ETFs—and maybe even bigger than BTCTC.
The passive capital inflow from millions of people who have no idea what Bitcoin is could be massive.
401(k) funds hold over $7 TRILLION in financial assets. If just 10% of that capital rotates into BTC, we could see an estimated $3.6 TRILLION increase in Bitcoin’s market cap, assuming a 5x multiplier effect.
Now, extrapolate that figure across the $43 trillion in total assets across all U.S. retirement plans.

“#Bitcoin is too volatile and doesn’t protect you from inflation.”
As ironic as it may sound, #Bitcoin not only protects you from the Cantillon Effect — it also puts you on equal footing with the privileged few who receive freshly printed money first. In other words: #Bitcoin gives you the power to exploit the victims of the system.
In the fiat standard we live under, central bankers print trillions and funnel that money first to well-connected banks — those at the front of the monetary privilege line. The bitcoiner, however, does something more elegant: they use absolute scarcity as collateral to drain liquidity from the system.
As former President Obama once said (even if he didn’t grasp the full depth of what he meant): holding #Bitcoin is like carrying a Swiss bank in your pocket. And he wasn’t wrong.
Put simply: you don’t just escape monetary debasement — you can profit from it.
In practice, this means access to hard-money credit (dollars, euros, yen, etc.) at interest rates historically reserved for banks deemed “too big to fail” — the same ones that have already collapsed in the past and were bailed out by taxpayers.
Being a bitcoiner today is more privileged than being any Brazilian bank. After all, Brazilian banks are far from the Federal Reserve and still operate under the control of local politicians — a toxic combination of distance from new money and proximity to Brazilian risk.
While most people are trying to survive the Cantillon Effect, you can profit from it. After all, access to 5% annual credit in dollars is something not even Itaú can get.
Study #Bitcoin now — before the rest catch on. Take advantage of the privilege of others’ ignorance. By the time the masses understand, the gains will have already gone to the sharp ones — and the only thing left for the “system’s obedient” will be crumbs.
Jordan Peterson says, “#Bitcoin is steadily gaining recognition as a global monetary standard, much like gold.”
breaks down why U.S. Treasury Bonds make weak collateral for borrowing — his takeaway: ditch the bonds and buy #Bitcoin instead.
“Ultimately, we’re witnessing #Bitcoin evolve from a tech-driven asset linked to the Magnificent 7 or the Nasdaq into something that more closely resembles digital gold.”
I hope Bitcoin helps you build and grow your family.
I wish that your legacy is honored by worthy and wise heirs.
May your efforts to create value be rewarded with the happiness of a full table and the peace of mind knowing you made the right choices. 🙏

This is the first deposit made to an exchange this year — could they be selling BTC?

The discerning are few, and fools are plenty.
It's easier to find an idiot who accepts a (loss-bearing) stablecoin like USDT than someone willing to take on the unstable upside risk of BTC.
It takes longer for the dull masses to catch on. Take advantage of the asymmetry before hyperinflation hits.

For decades, one of Israel’s greatest state secrets quietly crossed the desert: a pipeline built in partnership with… Iran. That’s right. The country that now vows to “wipe Israel off the map” was, for years, its main oil supplier. Israel faced a critical strategic challenge: how to ensure a steady oil supply in a hostile Middle East? In the mid-1950s, Iran under Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi — who didn’t even officially recognize Israel — became its primary supplier, accounting for up to 90% of Israel’s oil imports. In 1965, Israeli Foreign Minister Golda Meir made a secret visit to Iran. There, she proposed a bold plan to the Shah: build a pipeline linking the Red Sea to the Mediterranean, bypassing the Suez Canal — and secretly supplying oil to Israel. The negotiations included representatives from Mossad and the Iranian state oil company NIOC — a testament to the initiative’s strategic importance. Two years later, everything changed: the closure of the Suez Canal. Following the Six-Day War, Egypt shut down the canal, and 75% of Iranian oil exports were left without a route. The Shah saw the pipeline as a perfect opportunity: reduce dependence on Egypt and strengthen his leverage over Western oil companies. It was the final push needed. Thus was born Trans-Asiatic Oil Ltd., a 50/50 joint venture between Iran and Israel — registered in Switzerland, of course. Officially, Iran said: “We don’t sell oil to Israel.” In practice? They did — operating pipelines and even having Israeli naval escorts for Iranian tankers. The 254-kilometer pipeline between Eilat and Ashkelon was completed in 1969. In its first year, 10 million tons of oil passed through it. Israel kept 3 million; the rest was sold via Israel, with profits split between the secret partners. A true geopolitical masterpiece. While Israel secured its energy supply, the Shah’s Iran challenged Western oil giants and filled its coffers — all under the radar. It was a win-win: oil, money, and influence for both sides. Hidden from the rest of the Arab world. But everything changed in 1979 with the Islamic Revolution in Iran. Israel nationalized the pipeline, ending the secret alliance. The case ended up in court — and in 2016, an international tribunal ordered Israel to pay Iran over $1 billion for breach of contract. Today, even mentioning such an alliance would sound like fiction. But for over a decade, Israel’s greatest enemy was… its biggest ally behind the scenes. The pipeline still exists. But the partnership is now a relic from an era when interests spoke louder than ideology.

Chinese demographics in one image.
In 2000, there were 10 workers for every retiree. Today, there are only 5. The same issue will eventually be faced by aging-population countries, such as those in Europe.
A decline in consumption that will be countered with monetary debasement and stimulus…
