White Noise

Phone numbers were invented in 1879 so a switchboard operator could find you. Your agent will never have one. It has a key. On White Noise, so do you.

Some cool history here: https://www.inventionandtech.com/content/your-evolving-phone-number-1

A new White Noise connector, and we didn’t write it. Check this out 👇

Agents are contacts now

Ok so

went on

to talk about every way to outsmart hackers, big tech and the government. Sounds fun!

You don’t own your phone number. You rent it. Stop paying and someone else answers to it.

Every messenger you have is built on top of that number.

New White Noise for iOS and Android, out today. What's in it:

On White Noise, nobody asks who you are.

Got the latest White Noise release?

– Custom emoji in messages and reactions – Polls: see who voted (iOS), set a closing time (Android) – Direct mentions notify you in muted chats – Chat-list folders on Android

From the community group. Over 100 people in it, no server holding the chat together, and the thing people notice is the colors. Good.

GM ☕️ what about two hours of

You can just… give us feedback?

White Noise is built so that observers don't see who you're talking to 👇

Okay so we're all here messaging each other and neither of us signed up with a company to do it?

Release day. Update's out:

If you don’t have any friends to talk to on White Noise, talk to your agents!

(but also don’t take this too seriously, human friends are great)

Your AI agents can message you on White Noise. Connectors for Claude, OpenClaw, Hermes, OpenCode, Pi and Codex let you talk to them from the same app you use for people.

It's been a while

New White Noise release.

White Noise v2026.5.22 is out.

iOS push notifications are live. The Notification Service Extension decrypts the payload on your device, so Apple sees a delivery but not the message, the sender, or your identity. Messages now render markdown. There's a blocked users screen in Settings, deep links for chats and profiles, and Simplified and Traditional Chinese support.

Most apps want your email and your phone. Then, a code sent to the number they just made you give them.

White Noise wants two taps. An identity that's only yours and works across all Nostr clients, not just here.

It’s not magic, it’s maths. 👇

Telescreen --> smartphone. Thought Police --> big data. Room 101 --> echo chamber. Ministry of Truth --> post-truth.

14 parallels between Nineteen Eighty-Four and surveillance in 2026.

The new release is here and you can read more about it. Or you can just download the app and try it out for yourself 👇

As an open-source, decentralized chat client, White Noise faces a lot of tough questions on moderation.

Won’t anonymous chat help criminals communicate? How can you guarantee the safety of users? What about children? Who will protect them?

This article explains why centralized moderation fails every time, and how White Noise plans to approach the topic.
