At the #PublicSpaces conference there was a session on 'Growth and Sustainability of the Open Social Web' where I asked Rose Wang from #Bluesky a question about the $100M on VC funding.

Apparently it is a '3 year runway' that can pay for (only) 40 people and other expenses. Sounds like half a million dollar salary to me per person to me.

The other interesting part I got from this is that "they are focused on growth" and that is all. Where can I find the investors that are willing to pay millions and only have me focus on growth?

Vanaf morgen is het moment aangebroken om geen DigID meer te gebruiken.

Laat de complete boel maar vastlopen bij de belastingdienst, de gemeentes, provincies, pensioenfondsen en verzekeraars, door allemaal de “alternatieve methode” te gebruiken. Het is immers niet verplicht om DigID te gebruiken.

Overigens doet de link naar Bluesky het niet (ik was benieuwd wat ze daar dan posten).

Een enorme gemiste kans van de Socialisten.

Voor #groenlinkspvda kijk ik vooral naar

Het is alleen zo ontzettend jammer dat de partij zelf vooral nog big tech socials gebruikt. Hieronder een screenshot van haar website met daarop 3 producten van Meta (lees “Careless People” eens dan weet je waarom je geen whatsapp, facebook en Instagram meer wilt gebruiken) 1 product van Microsoft (LinkedIn) en TikTok en Bluesky (ook gecentraliseerde, datagraaiende platforms).

Terwijl de Fediverse echt regelrecht in het verlegde ligt van de kernwaarden van deze partij!

Helaas nog geen enkele reactie die uitlegt waarom niet en/of verwijst naar wie, waar en wanneer dat 'besluit' genomen heeft.

Het lijkt me nog steeds regelrecht indruisen tegen het beleid van de #rijksoverheid om het bestuur zo openbaar mogelijk te laten plaatsvinden.

Ik dacht heel even “ja, nu ben ik net zo boos als ik af en toe werd toen ik nog op Twitter actief was”, maar dit keer komt het niet door het medium maar door de keiharde en schrijnende realiteit: we leven in een land met een regering die schijt heeft aan de grondwet en het zelf niet lijkt te zien, met een politiemacht die journalisten tegen busjes aan smijt en ontvoert, met politici die roepen dat mensen het land uit gezet moeten worden en het grote bedrijfsleven cadeautjes uitdelen. #moedeloos

Ik werd van de week meerdere keren gebeld door een 088 nummer wat ik niet kende.

Toen ik donderdag in de auto zat en het rustig op de weg was nam ik op.

Het bleek iemand van de #rabobank die me (omdat we zakelijke klant zijn) belde.

Nog voor hij had medegedeeld waar hij eigenlijk voor belde vroeg hij mij om mijn geboortedatum ter verificatie.

Ik was er 90% van overtuigd dat het een scammer was, dus ik weigerde en vroeg terug om de laatste paar cijfers van ons bankrekeningnummer, ter verificatie immers….

Let's have a short discussion on 'when will you follow someone' on the #Fediverse especially when it comes to #politics and #press

There is a catch22 situation here, where politicians and people of the press say 'we are not going to use the Fediverse, since we cannot get enough reach there' and people here on the Fediverse say 'we will only follow people who are actually active here'.

I think that if we really want to make the Fediverse a place where we can find all the news and all the political activity we should take action to overcome this catch22 situation: if there is an official account of a politicion or a press-outlet, even if they are not (very) active: follow them!

It does not hurt you (if there is no posts, then there is also nothing to not like) and it will give them the chance to see that there is an active audience here that is worth spending time on.

Oh, and when they do get active: treat them like you want to be treated, welcome them with a warm heart and encourage them to be even more active.
