happy bitcoin white paper day 🧡
Bitcoin Halloween party. Costumes required. What are you showing up as?
perhaps, you don’t need more tools. you just need fewer tabs open in your brain.
productivity is easy to fake. impact isn’t.
We opened Decentralized Dialogues with the long view: Bitcoin will shape the future.
To meet that scale, we began not with code, but with conversation. Our first reading was Notes on Dialogue by Stringfellow Barr, starting with how to dialogue.
“The mind’s eye is solitary; the mind’s ear is collective.”
We explored what real dialogue means, listening instead of persuading, mining for truth instead of consensus. Like Bitcoin itself, dialogue is decentralized.
Some questions we discussed: – Can Bitcoin restore trust, or remove the need for it? – What might it teach us about freedom and responsibility? – Are we listening with the mind’s ear?
friday brain thoughts !
For one Rebooter, the biggest shift was simple: leverage.
Even while joining calls well after working hours in their time zone, the program brought clarity on what to focus on.
Most useful for them? Learning to think in 10x vs 2x terms. Realizing that bold leaps start with small mindset shifts.
Our 10x framework helped them get there.
your attention is a garden. whatever you water grows.
some days you’re tending roses. other days it’s just… endless weeds in the shape of distractions.
the trick is remembering you get to choose what grows.
🎨 Tune-In Tuesday
Do you know the 12 phases of burnout? Burnout doesn’t just “happen.” It builds. Quietly, predictably, until it becomes overwhelming.
It can start from anywhere. From overcommitment and the pressure to prove yourself. From neglecting your own needs. From withdrawal, cynicism, or just feeling empty.
As Vanina, one of our expert OS Reboot facilitators, reminds us, burnout follows a pattern.
The good news? Once you can name the phases, you can interrupt them. ✨ Awareness → prevention.
Want tools to help you spot the signs early and avoid burnout altogether?
In OS Reboot, we explore how to flip judgment into curiosity. Instead of: “I never get enough done.” Try: “What’s really driving that feeling?”
This simple shift can break old cycles. 🌀
The neuroscience: judgment locks us in autopilot. Curiosity activates new brain pathways (TPN), opening the door to awareness, options, and change.
That’s why even small pauses matter — small, curious shifts rewire habits.
OS Reboot takeaway: 👉 Catch one harsh self-judgment. 👉 Reframe it as curiosity. 👉 Follow where it leads.
This is how we turn reflection into transformation — one pause at a time. 🌱
What makes law real? Who enforces it? And does code count?
If Homer was a function more than a person… is Satoshi the same?
Not an author, but a role. A community function.
If code is law → what happens when the code is bad?
Does law have to be broken to exist?
Plato: law is a discovery of what is. Social law shifts with culture. Bitcoin’s rules don’t. Scarcity. Proof-of-work. Finality?
Closer to “law” than law itself?
Aristotle asked: are you a beast or a god? We asked: what does it mean when law enforces itself?
Philosophy meets freedom tech. Code meets justice. Questions without easy answers.
One [Freedom] Rebooter realized: they weren’t building sustainably, they were burning out chasing hyper-productivity.
The shift? Redefining progress as something sustainable, not just faster.
“Talking about this stuff was powerful.” OS Reboot → where hustle becomes momentum that lasts.
guilt-driven development runs the world. or at least open source ... who's with me?
One Rebooter came in feeling scattered and anxious about progress.
Through reflection and shared practices, they became way more focused and less anxious - finding clarity on working on the right things at the right time.
“Time with others and hearing their experiences was really, really helpful.” - rebooter
That’s OS Reboot → turning overwhelm into momentum. 🚀
Open-source powers freedom tech. But behind the commits and code reviews are real people — facing burnout, funding churn, and invisible labor.
We’ve spent the past year listening to developers on the frontlines. Their stories show both the cost — and the possibility — of building in a permissionless world.
In just a few days, we’re sharing Permissionless Paths: a research report on what it takes to sustain the people behind the protocols. Sign up for our newsletter to get the report first.

the open source world loves to talk about sustainability — until it means sustaining people.
you can't build censorship-resistant tech on burnout and vibes.

what's it actually like to be an open source dev?
we know its its not like any other job—so why are we still guessing how to support the people doing it?
Permissionless Paths is a research project talking directly to FOSS devs about what actually helps (or hurts) when it comes to sustainable contribution.
