Paraguay isn’t growing fast by luck.
36% of students want to found a firm at graduation, 46% within five years (world: 15% / 28%). One in three is already trying. One in six already runs one.
Now compound that with the fact that the median age is 29.
Young country. Low, simple taxes. Light rules. Cheap power.
This country will continue to grow over the next 10–20 years.

All the recent exploits in the open-source Bitcoin ecosystem make me wonder about the future of FOSS development.
In its current form, it’s too exposed. It isn’t only well-intentioned people watching the code. Attackers now scan GitHub for vulnerabilities and exploit them before maintainers can ship a fix.
Developers are under unhealthy pressure. They know the enemy is watching and will abuse any crack left in the code, and they’ll do it lightning fast.
That’s why they have to improvise with private encrypted side channels to talk about bugs, and with patches released before the code itself, so users can update without broadcasting the scope of the changes.
I think this is going to be one of the hardest problems for the space. In this case, transparency doesn’t work in our favor.
We are in the middle of the Great Hardening, and I am still convinced open source is the right way to build software. We just have to stay one step ahead of attackers and have the right tools to make the code literally bulletproof before it ever reaches production.
This Saturday I’ll be giving a talk at our regular Bitcoin Meetup on the importance of using Bitcoin as a means of payment. It’s an important topic not enough people talk about. Hope to see you there! ⚡

We’re at a crossroads.
One path is an AI-powered panopticon, full government surveillance and the end of real freedoms.
The other is to accelerate open-source AI, widen the gap between what governments can do and what free technology can do, and quietly speed up the obsolescence of the state as we know it.
Governments in their current form cannot compete with decentralized AI or defend against it. The hacks and leaks we already see will only get worse as the tools become more accessible and capable. Be ready - everything governments know about you will eventually leak. All of this will only underscore how unprepared and incapable both governments and the monopolies they protect really are.
The transition will be chaotic, maybe even violent. What comes after it can be a more decentralized, market-driven society that actually values freedom instead of restricting it.
We have to accept that we cannot simply uninvent this technology. It is here and it will stay. It will shift power one more time. The same was true of the printing press, the steam engine, the telegraph, the internet, and most recently Bitcoin.
AI will change our lives whether we like it or not. The only things we can control are how well we adapt and whether we steer it toward freedom or toward control.
I wish for the former.

Some people might be surprised seeing Asunción so high on this list. No sea, no mountains, no fancy lifestyle, and horrible infrastructure. Still, every year more and more people are coming.
Why? Paraguay offers something pretty rare - a residency that’s relatively easy to maintain, a simple territorial tax system, good weather, and still pretty good value for the buck.
A few years ago it was one of those places people struggled to pronounce or find on a map. That’s changed. Now it’s a known name, at least in the nomad community.
I just hope it doesn’t meet the same fate as some other once-great DN hubs.

The last few weeks in Bitcoin have been tough…
We’re watching a real paradigm shift. AI capabilities are exploding and becoming accessible to almost anyone. Bitcoin’s strict open-source culture and clear financial incentives made it the first obvious target. First of many.
Now imagine the banks, stock exchanges and government systems still running decades-old human-written software packed with vulnerabilities - code that’s extremely hard to replace or refactor in any reasonable timeframe. Closed source bought them time. It didn’t buy them immunity.
We have to brace for intensifying cyber wars and a rapidly growing chance that standard financial rails, banks, institutions and companies take real damage. It’s no longer “if.” It’s “when.”
Bitcoin is going through massive hardening right now. I expect months, maybe even years, before things stabilize and the whole ecosystem adopts new security standards.
When it does, Bitcoin will come out stronger than ever and better prepared for the AI age than anything else. Banks and governments? I’m not so sure...

It is clearly visible in the space that many OG bitcoiners and cypherpunks just disappeared from the public spaces, creating a void that was unfortunately mostly filled with influencers repeating popular slogans and shilling products for fiat.
It is understandable. Many just got tired. Many retired after holding a few cycles. Many stopped believing, disappointed by the scrutiny of especially Western bureaucrats that turned our lives into KYC-hell over the last couple of years. And many are simply protecting their opsec.
All understandable.
However, if the “founder’s spirit” and the values that shaped the early days of Bitcoin are given up, if cypherpunks stop being vigilant, if we stop believing in the orange revolution, we will just hand over the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to truly and fully separate money and state at scale.
Sure, Bitcoin will survive. But in what form?
Is Bitcoin going to be widely used, or just locked behind some third-party operator’s multisig? Will we be able to use it to buy products and services directly and without censorship?
The fight is not over yet!
All those people who say “we have already won” just don’t understand the full picture.
We only have one shot. There’s not gonna be a second chance.
So we have to work our asses off to make sure we win this fight.
Not just for us, but also for the future generations that come after us.
So stay humble & stack sats.
Be a vigilant and paranoid cypherpunk.
And teach others to follow the same.
It is not easy, but this is how we win!

The problem is that large-scale self-custody adoption always requires some trust - in the companies building the hardware and software, and in mentors teaching safe methods. Normies don’t have the capacity to become security experts and verify everything. Without that trust, they simply won’t self-custody.

Many Bitcoiners - especially the OGs - possess an incredible amount of knowledge. They’re like walking Bitcoin Wikipedias. Yet they rarely show up to meetups and are often unwilling to share what they know by educating others.
I understand why they hesitate. Being public about Bitcoin is an OPSEC nightmare, especially now as attacks on crypto holders are ramping up. Still, I believe it’s more critical than ever to spread the word and fight for our sovereignty. Bitcoin itself won’t save us if we don’t ensure we can use it the way free people do - P2P and permissionless.
Time is ticking, and we’re still a small minority. There are many people left who need to understand, who have to start questioning the system and choose the path to true sovereignty.
Sure, not everyone will get it - but we don’t have to convince everyone. We only need to reach critical mass... enough people to help us keep building in public instead of hiding in the shadows. Sovereign communities that become powerful enough to fight back and protect each other.
Bitcoin is not about NGU. It’s not about getting rich fast. It’s about opting out, about sovereignty, about living life on your own terms - free.
So the next time you’re weighing whether to spread the word or stay in the shadows, be brave. Even if you don’t feel like educating others yourself, please at least consider supporting those who do - and who accept the risks that come with it. Find a nearby community, send them some sats, zap their posts, or help with the infrastructure and behind-the-scenes tasks.
Bitcoin educators and community builders are modern warriors. They don’t fight with swords - they fight with knowledge. We need more of them, and we need them fast.

Paraguay’s tax authority DNIT just issued Resolution Nº47 (March 10, 2026) introducing a new requirement to report cryptoasset transactions.
The stated objective is to help the government identify and track economic activity related to crypto. (In simple terms - surveillance). 👎
According to the resolution, platforms, intermediaries, and service providers that deal with cryptoassets will now be required to submit transaction data to DNIT (local tax office)
This includes information about users, transactions, operations involving cryptoassets and more.
The regulation broadly defines “cryptoassets”, including cryptocurrencies, stablecoins, tokens, NFTs and similar digital assets.
Failure to report can lead to sanctions under the Paraguayan tax regime.
At the same time, DNIT has reportedly begun working with Chainalysis, a blockchain surveillance company used by governments to track crypto transactions.
This signals the start of large-scale automated blockchain monitoring in Paraguay. This is a very concerning move for the local ecosystem.
Instead of encouraging innovation and adoption, Paraguay is building a financial surveillance framework around crypto. 🤦♂️
And not only that - mass collection of sensitive transaction data creates serious privacy and security risks.
Governments (and the Paraguay one in particular) have historically struggled to protect personal data, which too often ends up leaked online.
Just yesterday, the Instituto de Previsión Social (https://ips.gov.py), a Paraguayan government public social institution, has reportedly fallen victim to the Kairos ransomware group which stole large dataset of its clients...‼️
Paraguay has a real opportunity to become a global hub for crypto innovation and a leader in this emerging industry. However, policies like this risk achieving the opposite. They discourage builders, slow adoption, undermine financial privacy, and even threaten physical security of its own residents. ⚠️

This is so true. 💯 Regular meetups and educational sessions are key elements of any successful Bitcoin community. They're also a breeding ground for great friendships, innovative ideas, and exciting projects.

BCP raised its GDP growth projection for 2025 to 6%. The forecast for the following year is 4.2%. Bullish. 🐂📈
Just for those who feel a bit lost and don’t understand what’s happening - in simple terms - the FED is creating money that didn’t exist before to prop up drying liquidity in global markets. Why? Because they don’t want the credit-fueled party to end. When you build an economy on debt, the music has to keep playing… If it stops, the tough hangover hits.
They fear inflation, yes - but they fear something even more - mass unemployment, cascading bankruptcies, and, above all, a government unable to service the enormous debt it has piled up over decades. So from their perspective, higher inflation is the “lesser evil” compared to a full-blown correction.
What does this mean for us, the retail plebs? When new money is created without corresponding real economic production, prices rise and your purchasing power gets diluted. Everything becomes more expensive because the unit you measure value with - the dollar - keeps losing its meaning. 1 USD yesterday ≠ 1 USD today. The measuring stick is broken.
And there’s only one rational response: OPT OUT. Save in bitcoin, the only truly scarce asset in the world, with a monetary policy as predictable as Swiss clockwork and immune to political manipulation.

And there it is - the Fed goes brrrrr. 🖨️ $13.5B USD liquidity blast, the second-biggest since COVID.

People keep demanding the state pay for EVERYTHING - healthcare, education, safety, pensions, public spaces, science, sports, you name it. But nobody wants to admit the obvious: the government isn’t a magical ATM with infinite money. YOU pay for it - through your paycheck, your taxes, inflation and ultimately your future (and your kids’ and grandkids’ futures too). And yes, you’re forced to bankroll services you don’t use, policies you don’t want, and systems you never asked for. So tell me again - how is that “fair”?
11/24/2025, 1 engagement
Most bitcoiners I know spend bitcoin not because it’s financially optimal, but out of conviction. To support sovereignty and adoption. And that’s what many people miss - if you want bitcoin to become global money, you actually should start using it. Spend and replace. It’s less comfy today, but it’s one of the most meaningful contributions anyone can make.
Loading quoted post…
Bitcoin is meant to be money - not just a “store of value” or “digital gold.”
To be money, it has to actually be used as a medium of exchange. The more bitcoin circulates, the more adoption grows - and with adoption comes long-term appreciation, because bitcoin is scarce.
That’s why it’s crucial to spend sats and support businesses that accept bitcoin. When sats move, business owners take Bitcoin seriously - and once they do, others follow. Moreover, the more places accept bitcoin, the more sovereign we become, because we rely less on government-regulated intermediaries.
I hear this all the time: “Why spend bitcoin when I can spend fiat?” or “I save in bitcoin, but I’d rather spend fiat.”
Yes, we all know Gresham’s Law - bad money drives good money out of circulation. But we must also remember Thiers’ Law, which applies in the late stages of failing currencies - when bad money becomes so worthless that no one wants to accept or hold it anymore, and good money finally wins.
If we want that future, we need to pay with bitcoin today. Spending it incentivizes businesses to accept it and a real circular bitcoin economy starts to form. As adoption grows, reliance on fiat shrinks, and people naturally move away from bad money.
So yes - every bitcoin payment counts. Every merchant you convince is one more small win on the path to the Bitcoin Standard. And even if you only care about price, spending and replacing sats still drives adoption - and adoption drives appreciation.
TL;DR:
Spend. Replace. Onboard. Repeat. ✌️

TONIGHT! It's going to be massive. Over 150 attendees! I guess we have already earned the title of "The biggest regular Bitcoin meetup in the world"! 🚀🔥🇵🇾

There’s a huge gap between "hodlers" who view Bitcoin solely as an investment asset and bitcoiners who get that Bitcoin is money and want to spend it. There’s a flood of Bitcoin lending companies pushing you to borrow fiat against your bitcoin to spend. Yeah, it might make financial sense, but it’s not building Bitcoin economies. We need to SPEND bitcoin more! Spending it gives us all more sovereignty. If we can’t spend bitcoin directly P2P, we’re forever tied to middlemen. That’s not what Satoshi dreamed of…
And people say Asunción isn't walkable... 😁

Personally, I’m not a fan of the HODL and "never sell your bitcoin" culture. If we see Bitcoin as money, it should be USED as money. In this presentation, I shared my perspective on why we need to rethink Bitcoin’s role.

I’m incredibly bullish on Bitcoin adoption in Paraguay. 🇵🇾 Last Saturday, our monthly meetup drew over 100 attendees. Tomorrow, the BitDevs meetup hosts ~50 participants, with 15 more on the waitlist (a technical event! 🤯). Then, this Saturday, a Bitcoin course at the local university for ~70 students. Pay attention, folks - something special is brewing here. 🚀
Asunción is currently the 4th most popular digital nomad destination in the world. 🤯

”Every social order incorporates among its key taboos the notion that people living in it should not think about how it will end and what rules may prevail in the new system that takes its place. Implicitly, whatever system exists is the last or the only system that will ever exist.“
The transition from fiat to a bitcoin standard will be turbulent, triggering a massive wealth redistribution and a harsh economic hangover. We've lived beyond our means for too long, the party's ending, and the bill is due. The true culprits will scapegoat Bitcoiners, accusing us of crashing the economy, profiting at others' expense, and igniting global misery. This makes us targets, so we must stay vigilant and united.
