I believe the key difference between a movement and a community lies in how they are formed.

A movement is built around a shared purpose or vision. It brings people together by giving them a common direction and something to work toward. In this sense, a movement is something we intentionally create.

A community, on the other hand, grows through relationships. It develops as people interact, build trust, and form a sense of belonging. We can create opportunities for people to connect, but we cannot force genuine relationships to emerge. They have to grow naturally.

So, I would say that a movement is created around a shared purpose, while a community grows through shared relationships.

The two are not mutually exclusive. A movement can give rise to a community, and a community can become the foundation for a movement.

Ultimately, a movement brings people together to move toward something, while a community brings people together through their connection with one another.
