Cant quantify but surfing Nostr i keep discovering these whole realms of people interacting with eachother sharing all sorts of miscellaneous things or sharing particular interests that have nothing to do with Bitcoin. Most of them will signal something bitcoin related in their bio perhaps but that is about it. In any event my impression is that things are far less insular than they perhaps were at an earlier time.

Who around here runs live automated tests on real devices inside simulated environments with multiple relays? #asknostr
My robots are almost done building this, and i wondered to what extend i re-invented the wheel here.
A TEPP implementation will be tested in various set-ups with local keys and remote signers among 7 android devices in a realm of a ton of npubs with a bazillion events among 8 or so relays.
Perhaps the android device fleet things is a bit particular, but if there is any interest in the nostr-simulation (the virtual relays) i can at some point put in a bit more effort into it so others can use it as well.

Every so often you get this question of who will pay for the relays...
Since VPN's marketed their stuff based on bullshit claims about privacy and safety, and managed to get people to pay for a geo-proxy and a worse experience... What bullshit narative could paid relay providers come up with?
, does nostr.build have electrolites? I think you should tell people it has electrolites.

I already sort of knew this, but the robot's production of the TEPP stuff was stupidely inefficient. I decided to just bite the bullet and grind through it with time and more subscriptions, because what was being build would be the foundation. I'd rather suffer the inefficiency than risk cutting corners.
Now that is done, and i am starting to build on top of that foundation, i decided to have a look at where what all these inefficiencies were....hahah absolute horror.
Not building slop is rough.

Perhaps one of the more difficult things to communicate (verbally), and getting to a point where someone experiences it for himself such that the point gets across and an intuition starts to build, its the matter of ''perspective'' irt Nostr.
This is because, among other stuff, Nostr changes two things, compared to the legacy platforms and two variables makes for complex systems.
With Nostr, both WHAT you look at, as well as HOW it gets presented to you, is completely flexible, whereas on platforms, mostly these two things are extremely rigid.
The rigidity has a reason, which is the 'purpose'. The content and the presentation of that content go hand in hand in order of an ''app'' to communicate to the user what the app is for. Pintrest is this moodboard type of thing, so it presents pictures in a moodboard kind of way.
Perhaps the initial reaction from a lot of people to Nostr's flexibility is disorientation, rather than recognizing the opportunities this creates.
Telling them that the same content can be shown a bunch of different ways is meaningless to them, because they lack a mental framework/understanding to comprehend.
Maybe I should frame it differently, from an angle they do understand which is how the web experience over time became bland, similar to how mcdonalds buildings became boring. The more your focus is ''the masses'', the more you seek out the lowest common denominator. Any bold, opinionated choice simply undermines your ''masses'' ambition. The ''UI/UX" landscape of the legacy platforms is not such because it is the best, and/or the most appealing; they are such because they are the least offensive to the largest share of the users.
And they need to be, they can't afford to be anything else, their whole model/architecture depends on mass adoption of their app.
With Nostr, no such pressure exists (network effect in the protocol not the location/platform blablabla), so all the sudden, liberated from this pressure, things can be hyper opinionated, hyper outputting to anyone but a few. Hyper specialized for purpose, hyper bespoke depending on the use-case.
The point is not that you can look at anything in any way, it is that you can look at what you want in the way you want. The point is not the infinity options available, the point is that within that infinity you can pick the one particular to you.

Don't get me wrong, i am not praying for the apocalypse (or am I), but what if ''the web'' just starts to break down and crumble under the pressure of hacks and exploits.
Are "we" ready? Can we say 'sorry your favorite platforms are down or unreliable for whatever reason, sorry things happened to your account and/or content.....here is something that was better to begin with but also just works'
What if it was never about us winning a popularity contest, what if our job is to ensure we are the last survivor?

Ok, this version is a lot better already. Tuin, our collective decentralized network of gardens as our children's online environment.

Ive had a look and there is still a lot of the technical parts bleeding through. Tasking the robots to try again on something more straightforward.
Going through the current site though, it sort of feel surreal that all the functionality supposedly is real (i have not actually tested it, i am just praying the robots are not gaslighting me)

Ive thusfar approached the Trust Extended Permissions Protocol (TEPP) from a "negative" perspective of preventing things. Obviously so because from a technical perspective it is a permission system.
But now that the alpha build of the engine is done, and i need to start implementing it, i tasked myself to look at it in a' 'positive'' manner, as something that is created and facilitates.
I ended up with Tuin. Tuin means garden in Dutch. In both languages (perhaps in others as well, but i only knew these two), a yard or garden already carriers this connotation of a shaped, maintained, safe and accomodating space. As such it already has explicit relation to childer; a kindergarten(hehe guess that is German), a school yard and in Dutch a playground is a play garden.
The point of TEPP is that as parents, you are able to craft a garden and connect it to other gardens. I imagine this large network of interconnected gardens that 'our' children are able to roam. The idea is not so much that you go and inspect other gardens in their precise lay-out etc., but that you mostly base it off the other gardners, the other parents or organizations that crafted their space. If something goes wrong, you know where in this interconnected network of gardens that is open to your child it occured and you can take action.
Now, I took this perspective and gave it to the robot. My brain is cooked so i will look at it in the morning if it is any good, but please have look and tell me if any of it is making any sense

The world is full of ''communities'', where people share a particular interest and organize themselves around that interest.
Oldtimer cars, or jigsaw puzzles. Lets take the latter. You have the market for jigsaw puzzles, with people designing and selling them, you have people creating content around the puzzles discussing or solving them. There are tournaments of all sorts where puzzles are done competatively.
It does not really matter what the ''community'', or perhaps you can call it ''hobby'' is. The thing i want to draw attention to here is the interaction and organization surrounding it.
The internet facilitated a lot of these things, allowing people with shared interest to find eachother regardless of where they are on this earth, as well as give them to tools do perform these interactions and manage organizing things.
Youtube channels, websites, reddit stuff, tweets, we use what these platfoms provide in order to do all these things. Nostr is an obvious (to me/us) answer. You can create whatever bespoke app/client/enfornment for your hobby/community, on this interoperable substrate. The infrastructure won't be dependent on a particular company, and the community is never forced into some migration. Ofcourse, within that infrastrure things may shift in terms of both actors, relays and apps used, but there are always these interoperable tie-ins that generally keep things ''together''.
mentioned it in its interview with
that "Bitcoiners" are just the first ''community'' to addopt Nostr. As a result ''we'' (partially) molded the environment around this interest.
In a way, what Nostr needs, or perhaps could use/benefit from, is taking whatever particular interest/hobby you have and ''community'' you are in, to take the environment that Nostr provides and build an infrastructure for it and convince the others in the community to use it.
Not saying that it is easy/trivial, but it atleast is a somewhat clear ambition.
An agenda nip/standard becomes more valuable to more clubs of whatever kind use it to organize their meetups and competitions.
The more standards become more standard, the more the standard which these standards function becomes move valuable.
Where do we want to build and acrew the value?

I hosted a dinner last night, and abused the situation to test the new update of Table mesh with 5 people and 8 devices. It worked! There were some rough edges as well as a catastrophic failure right at the end, but that was because i intentionally tried to break things.
That was from a technical perspective, but i also observed what actually happened at the table. People were mostly focussed on their own screen/phone. They did share the experience, but the attention was not focussed on the center of the table where normally the board would be, eventhough i had a tablet that displayed the board; all the information the player needed was on their phone as well, and as such never bothered to look elsewhere. This part needs some reflection as well.

In this interview i thought i would attempt to explain perhaps the most arcane insight behind Nostr. I think i failed, but thats not the end of the world.
I won't do a full attempt here and now, but the point is that verifiability on the one hand, and context on the other is what makes Nostr ''work'' eventhough theoretically it should not. A pubkey or a hash are just meaningless strings. If i would hand you such at string, it would just be a random garbled mess. And it is, it very much is a random garbled mess, that is very much the point of such strings.
It is only because there are things associated to those strings, be that an event in the case of the eventID/hash, or an actor in the case of a public key, that it gains any meaning.
This begs the question as to how you would find out what that associated thing is, where you would find it. And it is this question that is the reason that from a theoretical perspective the unsolveable problem comes in; there is no full proof method or insurance you ever will.
It just so happens that in practice, we have all these servers that make an effort of indexing this association. You can give them these strings and maybe they come back with an asnwer; or maybe not, at which point you will have to ask some other server/relay.
But these random strings, in practice, rarely stand on their own. Each event always stand in the context of its publisher in the first place, but may also itself be referenced by other events from other publishers. These publishers also reference eachother (chief among such references is a follow list), so in actuality there is this lively network of active references that quickly scatters among the relays.
Once you find the association, you know you found it because you can verify, so each attempt, each quest for context atleast carries this promise that you know you arived at your destination once you get there, eventhough there is no promise you will ever get to the destination.
So regardless how scattered the data may be, in its fragmentation it is indexed, and in its 'liveliness' it is interconnected through reference, and in its answers it provides context, and in its context it delivers meaning.
And thats how you go from a meaningless string to meaning. The reason for all of this is so that everyone can permissionlessly operate on the same interoperable plane and we don't need a cental party, a platform, to provide context and therefor meaning for us. It is the method by which we liberate ourselves from the silo, whatever it is we are doing.
It is how we solve for coordination, be that on Nostr itself, be that for Blossom, be that for Ngit or whatever else. It is how we flipped the script, so that instead of all going to the exact same place to interact, we can manage to go wherever the other happens to be to interact, in order to fullfill the promise of the internet that everyone potentially can get into contact with anybody else.
Ok, maybe i sort of did do an attempt to explain it again, and frankly I don't think i did much of a better job than i did during the interview, but...i dunno, bite me.
Nostr.
