Notions of political power divorced from conflict are like misallocated investments during a bubble. When the crash happens, we always finds out who actually holds the cards.

People really don't understand how incredible it is to make the language of a tiny country the most spoken language on the planet
It is way more than just cOlOnIaLiSm
I hope I live to see the day that the field of genetics can figure out why the English people have such an insane level of AURA

It's brutal how AI was used to drain plebs wallets
But, in fairness, it's also a great tool for the individual to corroborate "expert" opinion on which wallets, hardware etc to use when handling BTC
Particularly for plebs

Do you think the Coldcard thing is related to BIP-110 Vs Core? #asknostr
We just have to perpetually check nostr for emergency updates on BTC hacks and we should be fine 😬

If you found a seed phrase on the flood
And it was for a wallet with a value of 1BTC
You arguably didn't steal it because you just happened to find it
And you don't know who it belongs to so you can't return it
But if you did transfer it to someone else's wallet, you might be draining someone else's funds - they might have another back up
What would you do?
#asknostr
If they can go after the Coldcard thief/hacker and prosecute he/them, then who is to say that the government cant label us terrorists for financially attacking our respective governments?
And use the same methods to come after us?
We have to be careful what we wish for
#asknostr
Let's say you have your seed phrase on a metal plate. What would you do in the event that you want to move to another country and take your bitcoin with you? #asknostr
Hollywood films like Batman and Minority Report glamorise military/surveillance technologies that are more likely to harm the average person than protect them

Someone who has 1 BTC in a wallet or wallets protected by sufficient entropy now has more BTC than someone with 100 BTC who was only using a Coldcard hardwire device. The lesson is that wealth in BTC terms is not solely about quantity - but quantity AND security. If anything, security is more important. Otherwise, it is like building a house on sand

The Coldcard scandal has highlighted that - to be a leader in Bitcoin - it is not enough to be well-intentioned. You have to be competent too. The stakes are too high and the subject matter is too complex.

If someone told you to drive from your local supermarket to where you live without crashing, you could do that easily
However, if they told you that if you crash, you lose your bitcoin forever - and if you don't, you can keep it - then you would probably get really nervous and start overthinking every action
I think randomly generating your private key is similar
It is not difficult from a technical perspective - but once something of high value is at stake - something that you would usually view as easy to do, feels you with dread

Being able to correctly generate your own random private key so you can safely store Bitcoin is a valuable life skill
And it is morally good to teach someone how to do this
However, advising or instructing someone on how to hold their BTC is not the same thing - and it is morally dubious at best

Is it painful getting a tattoo on the sole of your foot?

Didn't Mossad remotely blow up people's phones?
Who is to say something similar hasn't been applied to hardware devices
Or could there be a way to track them?
The Coldcard fiasco has made me deeply sceptical about hardware as a general method of handling BTC - not just entropy
