There's an old saying in business: fast, good, cheap. Pick two. Want it fast and good? It won't be cheap. Want it cheap and fast? Don't expect quality.
Healthcare has managed to give us none of the three. It's expensive, your doctor choices are limited by a network, and you wait weeks for someone at an insurance company to approve your care.
CrowdHealth breaks the rule. You pay less. Our members have gone to some of the best physicians in the country. You can get your healthcare needs met quickly.

“Do whatever you need to do to save your baby girl.”
“Hi! We just wanted to send a quick note to thank you all so much for your support last week. It was, without a doubt, the scariest experience of our lives, and we cannot tell you how much it meant to know that when we reached out to our Care Advocate, there were no pre-approvals, permissions, or hoops to jump through. We were simply told, “Do whatever you need to do to save your baby girl.” In that moment, that meant everything to us.
After my C-section, Saylor was in such critical condition that I wasn’t even able to see or meet her. She was transferred to the NICU with Austin while I remained in the hospital recovering. For two full days, I could only see my newborn baby through FaceTime. Being separated from both my husband and our daughter, stuck in a hospital and completely helpless, was incredibly difficult.
We are so incredibly grateful to share that Saylor James was discharged from the NICU Friday evening! According to her doctors, she made a remarkable recovery. She went from being unresponsive and requiring resuscitation twice at birth to coming home with us just four days later. It truly feels like a miracle, and God is so good. We wanted to share a few photos from our little journey so you could see the family behind all of this. The work you are doing truly matters, and your support gave our family one less thing to worry about during the most frightening days of our lives.
We will never forget it. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being there for our family when we needed it most. All the best, Baby Saylor and Family

We just hit #270 on the Inc. 5000 list of America's fastest-growing companies. 🎉
The ranking isn't the story.
The story is tens of thousands of you, choosing each other over a broken system. Showing up for a stranger's ER bill. Sharing the load when someone got the diagnosis nobody wants. Proving that healthcare doesn't need an insurance company in the middle to work.
You didn't just leave the system. You built something better in its place. You are starting a revolution.
And it's spreading. Fast.
If you're already in the Crowd... Thank you!!
If you're still on the fence, come and join in on the fun (and save a ton of money along the way).

We are profitable. Have been for awhile.
Profit in healthcare is GOOD...as long as the incentives are aligned.
We want our members to have real reassurance that we'll be here for the long term. That kind of trust only comes from running a sustainable business model.
For-profit → has to keep proving its value or lose the customer. That forces investment in better outcomes, faster service, lower costs. Innovation is survival.
Nonprofit → insulated. Tax-exempt status, guaranteed funding streams, and captive markets mean the incentive to improve is weaker. Status quo is survival.
Thomas Sowell: "Profits are not just rewards for risk-taking. They are also incentives for efficiency."

We have a member going through a very serious form of cancer at one of the leading cancer facilities in the country. He was just given a 90% reduction in price due to being cash pay. This WAS NOT through financial assistance (he owns a successful company)...just purely paying directly at the point of care.
Healthcare is expensive if you use health insurance. Otherwise, very manageable...especially if you have a community of ~35,000 people helping you through it.

SHARED WITH PERMISSION
"I signed up for CrowdHealth about 4½ years ago, hoping it would live up to everything they promised. Instead, they completely exceeded my expectations. They truly under-promised and over-delivered.
When I first joined, I knew having children was in my future, so their maternity support was one of the biggest reasons I signed up. Now, after welcoming three healthy babies with CrowdHealth as our only medical, I can honestly say it’s been one of the best decisions our family has made.
After my member commitment they covered my midwife, doula, home birth supplies, water birth tub rental, postpartum care, lactation consultants, and so much more. Every step of the process has been surprisingly simple, transparent, and genuinely user-friendly—far easier than I ever expected healthcare could be.
What has impressed me just as much is how personal they make everything feel. They’ve sent thoughtful gifts during each of my pregnancies, plus birthday gifts for me and my oldest child. Those little touches say so much about the kind of organization they are.
CrowdHealth doesn’t feel like dealing with a giant, impersonal insurance company—it feels like being part of a community that actually cares. There’s even a members-only Telegram group where the CEO is actively involved. If you ever have a question or run into an issue, you’re not stuck calling an 800 number, navigating endless phone menus, and wondering who’s on the other end. You can connect with real people who genuinely want to help.
This is what healthcare should look like: people helping people, not corporations profiting from families who simply need care. I couldn’t recommend CrowdHealth more highly, especially for anyone looking for a more personal, transparent, and human approach to healthcare." -OB

Officially more than 50,000 bills have been funded by the Crowd to date.
Of the 32 bills submitted to the community for funding that didn't receive full funding, the vast majority came from people who weren't willing to help others in the community. Therefore, the community declined to fund their bill including the largest of these 32 bills at $3,750.

A Proposal for UnitedHealth Group To Merge with CrowdHealth
An open letter to the Board of Directors of UnitedHealth Group
To the leadership of UnitedHealth Group,
We are writing to offer you the opportunity to acquire CrowdHealth.
We know how this usually goes. Normally the company worth half a trillion dollars is the one doing the offering, and the small scrappy upstart is the one accepting. But we've thought about it carefully, and we believe the most valuable thing CrowdHealth has to offer is something that rarely shows up on a balance sheet: a way of running a healthcare company where the word "care" still does the heavy lifting. We would be honored to bring that to you.
Here is our six-point plan to restore "care" to UnitedHealthcare.
Point 1: Adopt a new core mission "Legit love our members"
That's the mission, in those exact words, and everything we do will revolve around it.
When a member goes in for surgery, we'll send a care package.
When a new member is born, we'll send a welcome gift to celebrate a new life joining the UnitedHealth family.
Every member will have a personal Care Advocate. No more call centers in foreign countries. Real personalized care is what we will be known for.
The idea is simple: treat the people who count on us like people we are LUCKY to serve. We're confident your members will welcome this new mission.
Point 2: Install our CEO as your CEO
To most effectively deliver on Point 1 we must change the culture. To do that, it must start at the top. Our founder will take the helm. He will earn a maximum of three times the average pay at UnitedHealth. He will receive a salary and nothing more. No options, no special grants, no golden parachute. We believe leadership should share in the same incentives as the people it serves, and we think this is the clearest way to show we mean it.
We know there will be skepticism on Street about this move. It’s difficult for Wall Street to hear that we will put people before profit. However, we believe their fears will be alleviated after they realize he graduate bottom cum laude (bottom 10%) at Stanford, and currently runs a 60 person company. Most importantly to our cultural transformation, he has built a company culture that puts its customers first as most effectively seen in our Trustpilot ratings (4.9 stars for CrowdHealth vs 1.2 stars for United).
Point 3: Be relentless about lowering prices
You are one of the ten largest companies in the world by revenue. That is an enormous amount of leverage, and we, as a combined entity, intend to point it squarely at the cost of care. CrowdHealth is 1/20,000 the size and we are finding prices that are about half of United’s cost.
We'll use our size to push prices down. Hospitals tell us they operate on single-digit margins and that much of their cost is fixed which means a payer the size of UnitedHealth carries real weight at the negotiating table. We intend to use that weight thoughtfully, and on behalf of our members.
Yes, as premiums decline, profits will dip in the short term. We're prepared for that, because we're playing a long game: lower prices and the new trusted reputation for keeping them low, will bring more members, and that growth will more than make up for the premium we give back along the way. If we take care of our members first, they will tell their friends that United is a great place to get coverage. Their friends will tell their friends. Human resources executives won’t have to spend as much time hearing about denials, and poor coverage. United will once again become the easy choice.
Point 4: Sell off anything that pulls us away from the mission
We'll divest Optum. We'll divest every secondary business line that creates an incentive to profit from the very costs we're working to bring down. It's hard to fully serve a member while also profiting from the pharmacy, the clinic, and the doctors. So, we'll keep our focus narrow and clear: lower premiums, and legit loving our members.
Point 5: Use our influence for patients, not profit capture
You have real standing with state and federal legislatures, and we'd like to put it to work for the people we cover.
We'll encourage lawmakers to limit hospital consolidation, a major driver of rising prices. We'll support repealing certificate-of-need laws, which too often keep entrepreneurs out of the market. We'll push to let doctors practice across state lines, so that a patient in one state and a willing physician in another aren't kept apart by paperwork. Lastly, we’ll use every means necessary to restore the ability for physicians to own hospitals because they know more about what it takes to care for patients than the MBAs.
Point 6: Let members shop, and let them pay cash
We'll help members see prices clearly and take advantage of direct pay discounts wherever they exist. We'll begin with employers, encouraging them to contract directly with their local hospitals. We will give people incentivizes for choosing a lower cost option even if the procedure fall above their deductible. And we'll accelerate CrowdHealth's founding mission: giving people the ability to pay their doctors and facilities directly, which consistently leads to far better pricing
The American healthcare system was handed to us in better shape than it's currently on track to be handed to our children. We have a genuine chance to change that, to be the carrier that shows every other carrier what's possible. To prove that a company can be both enormous and good, and that those two things were never really at odds.
Let's do this for the families who worry. For the parents who open the mail with their breath held. For the children who will inherit whatever we choose, today, to build.
We can lead the way. We hope you'll lead it with us.
Sincerely, CrowdHealth

Lot of hullabaloo around the midjourney announcement last week re AI powered full body scans.
We love it. It’s not perfect, but rarely does tech come out of the gate perfect. Dial up internet. Cell phone bags in our cars. AI hallucination.
Here is how the Crowd handles full body scans currently.
You pay for the scan.
If something comes up, you pay the first $500 to figure out if it’s something you need to worry about. Everything above the $500 is eligible for funding.
Happy Father’s day gentlemen.

If a family of 4 had ditched health insurance and joined CrowdHealth when we started in October of 2021, and invested the savings in the S&P 500, you'd be approximately $70,000 richer.
Not investment advice. 🙃
Our May monthly transparency file is live. It includes every bill, status, and even complaints.

The average family of 4 saves about $10,000 a year by joining this community of people helping other people.
Instead of sending that $10,000 to an insurance company or using it for a deductible, what about making some memories instead?
A beach sunset. 🏖️🩴 First ski trips. ⛷️ National park adventures. 🌄 A getaway with your spouse. 👩❤️👨 Grandparents joining for one last vacation. 👴🧓
Approximately $85M to date has been put back into the pockets of Crowdies, and their families, so you can do what YOU want to do with it as opposed to filling the coffers of the medical industrial complex.
Thank you for supporting this movement to change healthcare. 🧡🧡🧡

DO NOT JOIN CROWDHEALTH...unless you are ok with our CEO texting, and then calling, to check in on you after a tough surgery.
We have gotten to know this beautiful family as life has put them through the wringer. Really hard, but beautiful, birth story followed by dad being diagnosed with a brain tumor.
The personal connection with our members, especially during their hard times, is our calling...and the Crowd has stepped up to fund this family's really difficult journey.
Fellow Crowdies, we hope you feel loved. We aren't perfect so if for some reason you don't, DM Andy on our telegram* chat and we'll make it right.
*if you are a Crowd member and not on Telegram, check your monthly 5 email for the invite or DM us the email you use for Crowd and we'll send you an invite.

(InternetCPA) Absolutely. Prices do matter but only within a system that incentivizes people to care.
(Suzanne_Outside) For sure! About 30% of these births have indicated it will be at home.
(greg_travis) Exactly. So hospital transparency files would be pretty useless for you
(mkeBucks11) Theoretically you are correct. Practically, you are wrong.
(greg_travis) What services have you gotten at a hospital?
(ghostofPswayze) (harold_bracy) mark You are good to go on that check up!!
(yuanmichael15) mark Exactly what we are saying. Price transparency is good. Price transparency in the current system is pretty worthless

Sounds like we agree on most. CrowdHealth fixes this. Need a procedure and in 20seconds in most areas of the country we know what the cash pay price is for that procedure. We are pro transparency but the current health insurance system makes it pretty worthless and that’s a main reason our costs are going up

Mark is wrong about us being wrong.
We are PRO transparency. However, the CURRENT SYSTEM makes transparency almost completely useless.
The theory Mark has is that you have a high deductible then you’ll shop because it hits your wallet.
Here are the problems with this: 1️⃣ 80% of US healthcare costs are chronic. They will bust the deductible. Therefore they don’t care about price. 2️⃣ Any major procedure (the ones that move the healthcare cost needle) are above the deductible and so they don’t care. 3️⃣ If you go to the ER in an ambulance you aren’t shopping on the way. 4️⃣ Even if you did want to shop the hospital “transparency” files often times don’t include the cost of the doctor so you can’t come up with a true cost anyways.
So that leaves you with meds, labs, imaging, and preventative procedures that shouldn’t be procured at a hospital anyways.
Conclusion: transparency is great if you have a system in place that incentivizes people to actually care about the price.
***Mark will come back and say that employers will waive the deductible if the patient shops. It’s a great idea but the penetration of these types of services from what have heard from primary sources are in the low single digits.

(DornesGeoff) mark Did you know that doctors that work at the hospital but not for the hospital (most ER docs and anesthesiologists for example) aren’t included in these files and therefore you can’t actually know the full price?
(JustonBrazda) Absolutely. With CrowdHealth they do
(nebro) You are on Medicare. Prices are fixed
6/11/2026, 1 engagement
mark Hey Mark, what significant procedure falls under your deductible? 80% of our costs are chronic conditions. Nearly all of them bust through the deductible and if you know you are going to break through your deductible you don’t care.

Healthcare should be deflationary. Over the last 12 months:
Singles under 55 have paid on average $139.58/month (down 5% from the previous 12 months). ~$135 in June.
Singles 55+ have paid on average $221.67 (down 8%). ~$210 in June.
Families of 4 have paid on average $476.25 (down 4%). ~$465 in June.

The Biggest Little Farm followed us on IG yesterday (trailer below...worth the watch). EEEEEEK!!!
A few years ago, our CEO watched this movie and was inspired.
A couple looked at a broken system and dared to believe there was a better way. While the world was moving toward bigger, more industrial, more complicated agriculture, they moved in the opposite direction. They trusted nature. They trusted people. They trusted that healthy ecosystems could solve problems that massive institutions couldn't.
Most people thought they were crazy. That sounds familiar.
Today, their farm is thriving.
At CrowdHealth, we've always felt a kinship with their story.
Healthcare, like farming, has become increasingly centralized, complex, and disconnected from the people it was created to serve. We've been told that skyrocketing costs, opaque pricing, endless bureaucracy, and middlemen are simply the price of modern healthcare.
We don't believe that.
Just as Apricot Lane Farms set out to regenerate the land, we're trying to regenerate healthcare creating a system built on community, transparency, and human connection.
It isn't easy. There are pests in farming and there are entrenched interests in healthcare. There are setbacks, skeptics, and days when the mountain feels impossibly steep.
But stories like The Biggest Little Farm remind us that meaningful change almost always starts with a handful of people willing to challenge the status quo.
So when we saw that they followed us on IG, we may have had a small fanboy moment. 😊
Thank you for showing the world what's possible when people stop asking, "How has it always been done?" and start asking, "What if there was a better way?"
Here's to healthier farms. And healthier healthcare.
