The.best Minibits so far, AI teaser not needed 🕶️

Contacts and Profile in Minibits, rebuilt 💬⚡

• Chat with your Nostr contacts (private NIP-17 messages) • Send or request ecash right from the conversation • Save plain Lightning addresses as contacts (finally!) • Customize your own profile pic

Maybe because we're both looking forward for powder snow? AI is amazing.

Latest over-the-air release brings an important fix for #Minibits iOS users: the app was picking ecash transaction inputs in a way that used too much memory, and iOS would kill the process mid-transaction.

The fix resolves those memory issues and also adds auto-recovery for sats that got stuck in pending.

Android and iOS users both benefit. The update improves performance, and if the app ever gets killed while you're making a transaction, it now auto-recovers on the next restart.

Sending ecash on 1% battery? Now with peace of mind.

Minibits mint now has a Watchdog 🐶 Watchdog is a new open-source tool that continuously monitors the mint and alerts the operator to any unexpected drifts in the mint’s funds or ecash issuance. It also tracks dozens of additional detailed metrics.

We have started publishing some of these metrics on our website.

Please note that our project mint is operated on a non-commercial, best-effort basis for research and development purposes only. Use it with caution and play with small amounts!

We are migrated and alive.

Some wallets might require to refresh mint settings / keysets as Minibits mint migrated to a new one as a part of migration.

Minibits wallet, cashu wallet and macadamia should all handle the rotation without issues.

New mint implementation will allow to do some more exciting cashu things, stay tuned!

Thank you all for your patience!

*** Planned outage of Minibits Mint Service ***

• From Aug 11 at around 6:00 AM UTC, Minibits will migrate to another cashu mint implementation

• Will last up to 5 hours due to the scope of data migration, which requires the database to be strictly unchanged.

• This is a long-term planned, tested and optimized mint upgrade.

• No action needed on your side.

• Safe fallback in place: In case that the tests after the migration would fail, Minibits will resume to operate on current implementation.

Will keep you updated on the progress. Thank you for your understanding.

Minibits goes dark, finally 🕶️
Wherever you are, there are times when you don’t want your sats shining from your display.

The new Onyx theme is made for everyone moving through the darkness and needing to keep a low profile.

Minibits now comes with new immersive look and navigation, giving max space to roll over your transactions and contacts.

Few bugfixes made it into this over the air release as well, we won't crash anymore if the mint does not publish any contact (how can you?). Enjoy!

📱 New Minibits native release is out for Android!

Tap an NFC-enabled ₿ terminal and Minibits now wakes up even when closed, taking you straight to the payment screen. NFC handling was also improved to avoid conflicts with other NFC apps installed on your device.

Under the hood, we've redesigned the database engine for better performance and reliability. Plus, Minibits now looks and feels better on older and lower-end devices thanks to improved edge-to-edge support.

Lady Justice spoke loud

Free protocols get better over time! 🚀

#cashu now supports asynchronous handling of Lightning payments. What does it mean? More reliable payments, of course. Timeouts, sats that seem lost in the void, and unnecessary recoveries should become a thing of the past.

And Minibits wallet is first in line — async payments are now live via the latest over-the-air update, with experimental support by the Minibits mint!

Glad to see folks trying in person payments! Would be great to see the vid 💥

Good, we are back and alive!

There is an infrastructure maintenance running at cloud provider of Minibits ser vers, causing the unavailability of Minibits services.

Working to restart all services, sorry for inconvenience.

Happy that architectural decisions made may be 2 years ago make indeed a difference, thank you!

You've made my day!

There is 0.4.2-beta.2 over the air update for Minibits that brings support for new token keyset id format, that is more secure.

There are already some mints running new V2 keysets, so Minibits wallet now has them covered.

Restart the app or visit Update manager to get the update together with quite a few bug fixes as well!

The last 0.4.0 release broke deep links and navigating from push notifications. The root cause was the recent implementation of the themed app icon.

Considering it would be tragic to let Minibits die out of its own beauty, a pure bugfix release, 0.4.2-beta, is out on Android, Zapstore and iOS Testflight, and will soon come to the App Store and Freedomstore.io as well.
