Xkcd 1732 was made ten years ago, but we're still exactly on the "current path", which is, without exaggeration, the doomsday scenario.

If we can't get the needle to move only a tiny bit over a decade, we need to be a lot louder apparently.

Ignorance and bad logic are an excellent way to troll me, I guess. But since not everybody got it, I'll rip apart this intolerant moronic opinion one more time.

"Keep porn on a porn instance" has the exact same structure as "Keep bigotry on a bigotry instance" or cats, or football or whatever. "Keep on a instance" begs the questions: why? how?

If you agree with the statement for one topic, and not the other. You must think one is objectively more harmful than the other. I'll say for the record bigotry is more harmful than porn.

Filtering out bigotry is harder than filtering out porn in here right now, because, guess what, pornographers have higher ethical standards than bigots so they tag and cw the porn typically.

Why is there porn on fedi? The fact that the internet is made of porn and cats should give you a clue. Fedi is just like the rest of the internet in this respect.

People have different tastes, many like porn. Deal with it or go away. nostr:note1tw2jwsctgfgpzmamvd2d7xu5d273l938upejrmwuxvj5ft7r73mq49nzmh

Mojeek is everything I liked about google 20 years ago.

New default search engine. If you never hear me post about it again, it is as awesome as I hope it is and you should switch too.

I'm super happy to see that the wild garlic has settled in multiple spots in this food forest

The best design follows from function. There's usually a beautiful way of doing something, and design is to make that way easier than the less beautiful ways.

In the garden, when we try to make things beautiful fast, we usually end up having to work hard against weeds.

But if we work less, and aim for ground cover, mulch production, habitat, and polinators, we can end up with the most beautiful flowery jungle in just a few years.

The actual quote: “That points to extinction. And I don’t say that lightly. I say it in absolute terms. I’m saying, if things continue unabated as they are, then we are facing, as a human race, potential extinction.”

As dire as that is, in no way did the expert ever say we're facing "absolute extinction". They used those words in two different sentences.

The message is not: we're doomed. The message is: we are risking doom if we don't act.

Very different message, isn't it? #climateEmergency

Two simple chilling facts

1. There's four orders of magnitude more solar energy available than we need to power civilization.

https://norden.social/@hart/116079729462399297

2. Most of the emissions that are causing civilization to collapse are caused by fossil fuel industry and transport itself.

https://norden.social/@hart/116079723621384871

The conclusion that fossil fuels are the main enemy of humanity is not far fetched at all at this point.

It may look bleak, but between the lines it's quite clear that if we make room for more forests, we can still make it.

Can you sneak another tree in somewhere? Can you avoid buying something? Can you make a billionaire lose money? Do it!

I'm done with the left-right dichotomy. I'm going with ethical vs. unethical from now on.

Evil people have done the most ridiculous word games and goal post shifting for far too long.

Ethical is now left, the opposite of right…

Unethical is now right, the opposite of wrong…

🤷

I've had enough of this. Questions?

Thanks for this thread by the way. I hope a lot of people read it and act appropriately.

Please stop calling calling #climateChange polution.

The fact that co2 levels are far from toxic is a favorite talking point of climate deniers.

The problem is physical, not chemical.

The (unrealistic) levels at which co2 becomes toxic would disrupt our climate in unimaginable ways.

https://dan.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/co2-what-is-a-safe-level-q2-2020.pdf

But those using that as an argument that climate change is not a problem yet, are either evil, or idiots. Just to be clear.

A tree that was grown from seed by the owners. A master pruner was there, and I was there for the workout. The tree is 'saved': for another decade or so 🙂

How do you deal with thistle in the #foodForest?

Well I photograph them for #bloomScrolling or better yet #BloomScrollingWithABee

More than 4years ago I grew this one from seed. One of the parents was a reaper, i think. It is scarily inconsistent on the Scofield scale, but I like diversity and resilience, so I'm keeping it.

Before I take seriously any dreams you may have about terraforming Mars, buy a few acres of the worst farmland in your area, and build a no input farm on it that feeds your family year-round.

If you can't even do that, no mention of living on Mars please.

Utterly nerdsniped by the new heat pump. There goes the weekend sigh

Spilled some seeds one day I guess 😍 #bloomscrolling

Helped a bit with this: scrap wood->coolest table ever for the food forest.

The friend that built this is a retired engineer, I was the hustler and the muscle only, but still makes me a little bit proud.

Making simple useful stuff is the absolute best. Thank you old friend for the wholesome experience 💪🙏

Often when I climb a tree, I wish I had a better camera with me.

The details on especially the higher branches are often just out of this world.

It may be silly, but up there, where the acoustics change, the smells change, and the mind changes with all that, I feel a desire to capture the moment and take it back down with me.

Just a mediocre shot of a very common sight on a warm late summer morning walk. There were at least five on this one shrub. Made me happy to stop and watch them do their thing, smelling the perfume of the flowers and listening to the soft flopping of their wings #bloomscrolling #butterflies #3goodthings
