It's pretty clear that there are people in the AI space who have some pretty bad intentions with AI and I do think AI will be used in surveillance systems and used by people to the harm of others. It already is being used that way in some capacity. That being said that also don't mean that the only thing AI can be used for is harm and for bad things. Just like a hammer you can use it to build a house for someone or you could use it to kill them. The hammer isn't the issue, its the actor using the hammer. So basically, I take the approach of when a hammer is needed I would like to have a hammer and when I do not need a hammer I'm not going to carry one with me. We should do something similar with AI.

I have a rule for myself when I read, I’m not allowed to stop reading until the next chapter. I don’t allow myself to stop mid-chapter. So if anything serious ever happens and I need to act quickly, it’s just gonna have to wait until the next chapter.

I went from not reading basically at all to reading everyday now for at least an hour and a half a day for the last 8 days now. In that time I just learned that the "total pages" on my e-reader isn't the actually number of pages in the book but rather the pages based on your set up, takes into account your screen size, spacing, font size, margins and so on. I was so confused why a book said it has 1366 pages when I search online and the paper book has a 541 - 672 pages depending on the edition you are getting. I feel like I should have clocked that sooner than I did honestly lol.

I like the bomb to delete stuff in Din Paint. Also the sounds of everything reminds me of being in my school’s computer lab as a very young kid. Like 1st grade probably and going crazy with paint and a few other little games and programs we had access to.

I got about half way though it and decided to stop, the book is interesting, the action is pretty good, the story is even pretty decent but it leans into the Borderlands like humor waaaaaaay to much which kinda ruins it for me, if the humor was more sprinkled throughout the book it would be more enjoyable but its like there are sections where the author just didn't really know what to do so he just started trying to be funny, also the item descriptions fell into the trope of everything must be sarcastic and humorous. Maybe I come back and finish the book later, but its just annoying at this point because of the humor element, which is crazy for me to say as the dude who is always posting memes and saying stupid stuff on here just for the humor value. I started reading Mistborn instead, I see a lot of people say its good.

I’ve been reading Dungeon Crawler Carl, if I had to describe it I would say think of any dungeon crawler game and then add the Borderlands games type of humor to it. That’s basically what it is. I could go more into depth, but it’s probably best not to say too much in case someone is planning to read it. I’ve read 20 chapters so far. I think that’s close to half way through.

Is Neuromancer worth a read? My dad said when he read it in the past he didn't really like it. But I see people online saying it's really good. Thoughts?

If you own a kindle you must jailbreak it to actually have a good experience. I do think there are a few e-readers that aren't as locked down and restricted at the kindle, I can't think of which one that is at the moment but, koreader + zenUI/zenOS(plugin for a nice UI/UX) + localsend(send files to yourself over your network) is an absolutely amazing experience.

Thoughts on DinOS: Although I've never been a fan of NixOS or Flatpaks (at least not by default), I can understand why DinOS uses them though. Given the lack of a standard Linux application format, Flatpaks make sense, and NixOS for reproducibility. If I used DinOS full time, I think the those things would bother me less once everything was set up. Ultimately, setting my biases aside, DinOS provides a really nice experience. While I won't be wiping my main system for it anytime soon, I definitely plan to keep playing around with it on test hardware and in virtual machines.

If I want to say something and make it sound German I just add -enhimer to the end of it. So for example "Hand me my cupenhimer", "I'm going to the shopenhimer". You can try this yourself. It's a fun little thing, kinda like pig latin except for its not anything like pig latin and its not latin and its not pig either.. or pigenhimer as the Germans would call it.

I read 5 chapters of a book today. The chapters are pretty small honestly but still it’s better than not reading at all like I was doing.

Something I plan to be more intentional about is what and where things are sitting on my desk. I typically am the type that everything has a place that it goes so that's not hard, what's hard for me is when I need a USB cable or something rather than just using it then putting it up I just find a stop on the desk to put the cable then you do that enough and you end up with SIM removal tools and a knife and a lighter and a controller and blah blah you get it. The desk becomes a mess. No more messy desk.

I've been getting xfce setup and tweaking little things here and there and I got it to a pretty usable condition at this point, if nothing ever changed, I could make do with it. That being said, I logged back into KDE and dang, KDE just feels good.

Nostr still works fine after a little bit with no lightning address. I don’t really feel I’m missing anything, and though yes, tips are more rare, that makes me all the more thankful for them when I do get them via onchain BTC or XMR. Though I think some clients probably have old profile data for me so some of you might actually still see a lightning address.

As part of my effort to actually learn to code. I had AI generate some intentionally buggy code (very simple stuff for now) told it to leave notes on what the expected behavior is and what the expected outcome is (it doesn't tell me where the issue is obviously). Then I fix it to make it do that thing.

Open source projects really don't need to tell people how to act and what they should or shouldn't support. It's pointless. Stop doing it. If you make a calculator for example, make the calculator work, make it do what its supposed to do. And I'll worry about my political views, gender views, religious views and other social views. I'm beyond tired of if at this point. To be clear I don't even want them pushing things I support. It's not there place or their role, it has nothing to do with the software.

Was casually sitting at my desk watching a video and a massive spider crawls across my laptop(docked) I tried to catch him with a cup he went under my laptop, I moved my laptop he jumped off my desk into the floor like he didn’t even care what happened to him then after a kid of poking and prodding to get him out of corners I eventually got him and took him outside. I generally try to catch them and take them outside but if it’s taking too long I just bash them.

Open source software is by default inclusive for everyone. It becomes less inclusive when you start naming off groups you specifically support especially when those groups have 0 connections to what your software is. So ironically the more inclusive many of these devs try to be, the more they actually just push people away.
