50 XPRS stations to be offered during the SemRede festival in Coimbra. These stations use NOSTR for messages and identity, albeit slightly reduced in size per message because each byte matters when transmitting on radio and satellites.

50x XPRS stations are offered completely free of cost for those attending the SemRede festival in Coimbra on the 31st of October. If you are around and haven't registered, grab a free ticket at https://semrede.com and come down to meet the folks building networks without internet.

Each XPRS station is based on the ESP32-C3, can be used to build mesh networks with other stations within reach and can be used as bridge between any other device with bluetooth and the internet. Meaning, when you are within reach it will relay messages to you from other people on the internet and vice-versa. This isn't exclusive to internet, it will happily use radio, satellite, LoRa or even smoke signs if someone builds an adapter.

No connection? No problem, it works as a offgrid local mail box where you can drop messages for other people like friends and family. Technology underneath is based on NOSTR for relays, identities and signatures.

If you are attending the SemRede festival to showcase your offgrid, crypto and alternative communications project, please submit the project on the showcase page to make sure it gets more attention before the event day: https://semrede.com/showcase/

Software nowadays is like a religion.

Because software is no longer about quality nor efficiency. The only metric for what it means "success" today is popularity.

Therefore you need followers and believers so that it can succeed.

What if 7zip would marry NOSTR?

The result would would be ZX.

A way to compress and decompress folders with far better compression ratios than other compressors and even monster-compression when you go nuts and feed 32GB RAM to the tool.

NOSTR is used for signing the archive, writing comments and defining who can add new files.

Also features other things like a SQLite database inside each archive and tools for finding files based on SHA256 and similarity inside the archive.

Below is the preview of the web client using an old desktop theme for fun. The work is still beta, more will be released until the end of this month.

I bet this is something where you'd never expect to see NOSTR used.
