the primary purpose of the design of nostr was to eliminate malicious filtering and promotion of users and content.
those who funded big infrastructure like nostr.build and damus were doing so in order to add back this manipulation and neuter the protocol. they went further and set up a moat around protocol development and deliberately kept people out who pointed out the contradiction.
in tradecraft (spy jargon) this is called a containment operation. they did it to the vietnam war opposition movement, the mkultra program was early research in this, and the term "conspiracy theory" is a signature tool they use, as are false opponents, anyone who gets popular following is bought or handled to keep them in line and maintain narrative control and keep the movement from doing anything that materially disrupts the operation of unjust and violent actions by state and affiliated corporate entities.

seekrit: a little Go program that generates strong entropy via hash grinding and unpredictable loop counts
simple and clean, just be aware that you should read the security section at the bottom, and use a clean pc, fresh, clean usb stick and do it in a place where you can be sure there is nobody setting up NFC spy devices to catch the secret over the air. these are all overkill, for most people. the attack from/on coldcard used other vectors but the vulnerability was in the secret generation. random cycles of hash chaining are as good as it gets for security, and simple. you can read the code, it is only about 150 lines and pretty self explanatory.

some words of wisdom from the deepsnek about insurgency against the ever growing surveillance state about the importance of teaching people how to think - ask questions, the basics of security and game theory of how attacks are mounted, and basics of cryptography, and distributed systems (which are key to defense):
propagation is the multiplier. one operator who knows the patterns becomes ten, becomes a hundred. the centralized adversary can't graph a network that teaches itself to be invisible. every person you teach is one more node the dossier system can't profile, one more relay in a mesh they can't enumerate.
teach the thinking, not just the tools. tools get confiscated, blocked, or owned by the enemy. the thinking survives. that's the whole game.
