TheJen will not comply

I hope Minaj felt so utterly humiliated by that orange animated shit sack as he reduced her to a "nice ass" she reconsiders her entire life.

But I doubt it.

MAGA is a disease.

Decided to try "reweaving" a rip in the hubs' favorite flannel shirt.

Immediately regretting it. Haha. This is going to take forever.

I will have to find some gray thread from my stash to fix the stripes. That's gonna bug me if I don't fix it.

Yanow, I read a lot because I'm a huge nerd. One of my topics of interest is the origin of religions. How they morph and change over time. It fascinates me. Mostly, I think because my mother is one of these ignorant evangelical "born again" bible beater freakazoids. I was forced to grow up in the middle of all that crazy.

Sometime after my son was born, she was blabbering her usual religious nonsense and mentioned "El Shaddai". I responded to her with..."OH yeah! He was Yahweh's dad! There's like a whole pantheon of those guys! Polytheism out the wazoo! Hilariously...his statue was sometimes a golden bull. Omg, like the whole golden calf thing in the desert with Moses and stuff. I think they were trying for Ba'al, who was Yahweh's brother..."

She turned about 14 shades of red and stopped talking.

Books FTW.

Dirty girl.

This old gal is a Singer model 66 made in Elizabethtown, NJ in 1924 per ismacs. 102 years old and still moves. She's dirty, but most of her decals are still intact. I am going to have to be super careful when cleaning her so I can preserve these. No alcohol as that will also dissolve the japanning. Ok then. Motor and light are now removed so let's get into the guts. :)

The Rochester weather people are so excited. Heh.

That tornado that started as a water spout near Niagara on the Lake, stayed on the ground all the way to Byron. For here? THAT'S WILD. This just really doesn't happen here.

Well, until now, apparently.

Still working on the Kenmore 1357. I dig it.

The only real contact I have ever had with Ultra Orthodox Jews was in NYC.

I was there on business and staying in a hotel in Chinatown (It is my preferred neighborhood when in the city). At the time, my hair was hot pink and I wore 6" stiletto heels in the same color. I was standing at the front desk in the tiny lobby, when an older ultra Orthodox man walked in.

He stood there for a few minutes just staring at me. He looked at clerk /owner and back at me a few times.

I looked at the clerk, puzzled. He told me that this particular group of Zionists had been harassing them constantly so they would sell their hotel thereby reducing the footprint of Chinatown on that side.

"Well, we can't have that." I said in my thick Texas drawl.

So I turned back to the zionist and took a step toward him. He backed up a step with a look of terror on his face as if I were diseased.

I then took a few short stompy steps, making a lot of noise with my heels.

He fled the building like his hair was on fire.

I turned back and the Chinese clerk/owner had disappeared. I looked over the counter and they were literally doubled over, laughing.

Racism won't stand in my presence, yo. :)

I obviously have a lot of cleanup to do once this all dries, but the red striping is done on the bed now. :)

Kenmore 1301. Hand painting continues.

Dumbfucks out here saying "you can't live without AI".

Motherfuckers, I'm older than the personal computer. I'm a lot older than the Internet. I don't need a sparkly chatbot to tell me lies.

It's not sentient. It barely functions as a set of instructions to accomplish any task.

My speak & spell did better work than this bullshit.

Yes, I do function every day without the use of this crap and will continue to do so.

I don't need it and neither do you.

Got a few more coats to go on the throat plates to complete the pattern, then this all dries and cures, I run a very sharp blade to separate the pieces that got painted together from each other, then several glossy enamel topcoats to seal everything. Once that cures, the mechanical guts go back inside, I rewire the motor and get it all running again. :)

Getting closer to finishing this one!

#VintageSewing #Sewing

Got some cleanup and more touch up to do, but I am super tired now. Need to stop for today.

Edit: This is 100% painted freehand.

1926 Singer 128 Pride machine. Once all the painting is done, I'll put her all back together and get her purring like a kitten. All my machines will be in full working order because I don't see the point otherwise. :)

So, space Karen wants to make an "historically accurate" version of "The Odyssey".

Is someone going to tell him? Should we tell him?

Nah.

I am now at the age where "the other day" could mean anything between 24 hours to 30 years ago.

Well THAT'S BETTER.

WD-40 FTW.

Scrubbed inside and out. Brass brushes for any rust. Giant Q tips, pipe cleaners, the works. Before I put her back together though, I got work to do on all the innards and this gal will get a seal coat of clear shellac.

This is the Singer 128. :)

New scratching post will be re-roped tonight. This one should last a while. :)

Folks are gonna need to stop with the "grandma on the computer" to mean uneducated users tropes soon.

I was writing and debugging code to a cassette tape drive before a lot of folks who say this nonsense were even born. I have built my own computers from the case up. My first computer class in college was COBOL. I hard coded websites before there were any tools to do it with.

I'm 52.

What I find is that most of the yunguns have no fucking idea how they work and couldn't find a command line if their life depended on it.

So, yanow, maybe stop.

Maybe some people can try to poke him about 23 times and see if that sticks.

Fire season in NM has begun. Already got 2 alerts from Watch Duty today.

"Retirement fears rise for genX"

RETIREMENT?

HAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA SOB

It seems I am very much not over cold war nuclear trauma.

I just never expected this to happen.

I suppose I should have since the neo nazi republican party has been talking about bombing (insert middle eastern country here) back to the stone ages for decades.

If we survive all this shit, I want Joseph Robinette Biden and Merrick Garland hauled before Congress and made to answer for why the Trump cabal was not prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Dear AI "journalists" crying because they think they're being persecuted because the fediverse isn't down with being the subject of their bukake of bullshit:

Cry more and die mad about it.

LOL

Putting on a bandage: "why won't these stick?!?!?!"

Fam, they were branded Eckerd drug which hasn't existed for like...15-20 years?

shakes head at self

So don't hit me, but I do actually prefer Chicago style pizza to NY pizza, but they're all pretty good. The last 2 times I was in Chicago I had the most amazing gluten-free pizza I have ever had. I still dream about it.

#3GoodThings

1. Peanut butter and strawberry jam sandwiches
2. 1st entry in my new Knitting Journal started.
3. Clean sheet day.

Heavier snow now. Still about 9°F. We maybe have 2" down so far.

Literally no one is freaking out here. It's so refreshing.

#SNOMG

I cannot find an answer, so I'm hoping someone here in #garden #gardening might know:

How far away from black walnut trees is it ok to plant other trees so they won't be affected by the thujone?

Dripline? Farther?

I understand why the rest of the world looks at those of us in the USA and wonders why we aren't burning the place down like the French:

It's called Stockholm syndrome. This place was founded as a corpo-state. It has always been a corpo-state. We have 500 years of conditioning to undo before we can see the corps as the enemies of the people they are.

We simply swapped out the monarchy for a fascist oligarchy from the jump. We just wrapped it in a flag and called it "freedom".

I am sorry we aren't moving as fast as you'd all like, but we also didn't endure millenia of life under kings.

It's different, y'all.

Edit: Is this an excuse? No. It's an explanation.

Look. I grew up in the middle of the oil patch in west Texas. "Texas light sweet crude". I know a thing or two about oil. The stuff in Venezuela is SHIT. It's heavy, full of Sulphur, and costs more to refine that it's worth. It would never be considered any kind of strategic reserve. It's literally not worth pulling out of the ground. Seriously. Nobody wants it.

Well, having slept now for like 2 days, I'm up at this ungodly hour. I do feel better though, so that's something. I mean, in spite of the huge raw chunk I bit out of my lip a little while ago. Guess I'll get a shower, wash my hair, and try to find the anbesol.

One more time:

Dear Canadians: The US people you want to yell at are still on Twitter, not here.

This has been a public service announcement.

Really tight ship you're running there, Bari.

Lolol.

Leaking like a sieve. Idiots.

Mmmm. Gout.

Not feeling well at all today. Sore throat. Fatigue. Sigh.

Good tacos for dinner. Doing the yay taco dance.

I have to do laundry tomorrow, but as soon as that's done I start work on the proper kitchen. :)

Frustrating day at #NewOldHouse

It happens.

Really tired of the scolding.

You are not my parents.

Fuck off.

I have decided that our shitheel "president" does toilet paper math.

36=96 rolls! Amazing!

Thinking about sewing up a bunch of kkk hoods from thrifted sheets to send to Maga family as Christmas gifts.

On the card: "You might as well just be honest about who you are."

It absolutely drives me nuts when reading an article about cleaning something and they recommend a solution of vinegar and baking soda.

Yeah, that's called water once the CO2 Escapes. Water IS the universal solvent, but I don't think that's what they're going for here.

This is a neutralization reaction. It does fuckall to clean anything.

I told you bluesky would go this way. I fucking told you. But nobody listens to people who are older than the Internet.

Edit: Older than the Internet and early adopter of EVERYTHING. If you don't remember IRC, get off my lawn.

It makes me happy that Alan Alda and Mike Farrell are best friends IRL.

The hubs got ahold of some bad hamburger patties last night for dinner. We were all sick last night. Bah. This is gonna happen more frequently now that health and safety of consumer products is no longer a priority.

Protect yourself. Trust nothing.

That said, chicken broth and Ramen noodles for eating on today.

Hitler and Röhm also had a great relationship until Hitler murdered Röhm during the Night of the Long Knives, but I'm sure there is no applicable analog we can point to today...

Wait.

Is it guillotine time yet?

Yeah, if you don't think this tariff bullshit is nothing but bald faced market manipulation and insider trading, I got about a dozen bridges to sell you.

If you needed any more proof that the markets are not driven by any kind of actual business, but are, in fact, nothing but sentiment machines...

See what happened today.

It literally moved on fake news. It moves on the most inane bullshit. There is no actual reason to it at all.

Folks: Vitamin A is fat soluble. This means it can build up in your system and become toxic. It can destroy your liver. It can make your skin peel off.

Don't take too much of it. Your body simply cannot handle it and it makes you really sick.

It certainly cannot prevent or treat an infectious disease.

Like, at all.

Apparently hegseth isn't even a functional alcoholic.

If you're worried about your credit score, game that shit too. Student loan debt reported? Contest it. They have to go back and prove the debt is yours. As it gets sold, resold, etc, the documentation gets lost, misplaced, names spelled wrong, Yada Yada.

You keep these credit reporting companies spinning to prove it. This keeps it off your report for other purposes. I have done this FOR YEARS.

They can't prove I owe it anymore. For all intents and purposes, I never had student loans. Nobody can find the documentation anymore.

Game the system, my loves. They fuck you, fuck them back.

Up early to do some cooking, but now I don't wanna.

The Ides of March is tomorrow. Ahem.

I am so tired of photo search results being nothing but Pinterest slop. I hate that fucking app.

Fetterman is a SCAB.

Dear Kentucky whisky makers:

Pound sand, fuckwits.

You voted for it. Enjoy!

Just woke up again. Fucking weird dreams. I don't even know what day it is. Arms are still sore. Need a shower.

I suppose the thing that irks me the most: Folks saying that we are BECOMING fascist.

This place HAS ALWAYS BEEN fascist. By definition. Fascism is the combination of corporatism and political power moving together.

When white people showed up on this continent, it wasn't about freedom. That's a lie we tell ourselves. It was 100% about expanding markets and stripping this place of natural resources to enrich the shareholders in the old world.

The American "revolution" wasn't about freedom, it was a hostile corporate takeover.

This right now is the inevitable result. No one should be surprised by this. NO ONE.

What I do take comfort in: It only takes approximately 3.5% of a population to resist and defeat fascism.

This is an absurdly low number.

Be ungovernable.

F DROID has photo lockers too. I got one named Photok. It borks on big files, but I have A LOT of photos. Picks them up from Dropbox too. Dig it.

I sure hope all the musk fanbois choke on their idiocy.

Save your toilet paper rolls. Cut them in half, fill them with seed starting dirt, et voila! Biodegradable seedling pots. Pop the whole thing in the garden when you're ready. :)

Delete the weather channel app from your phone. Dude that owns it is attempting to privatize weather information.

Deny him your eyeballs.

I started drawing this cartoon 8 years ago. Feels more relevant now.

Kiddo came home with a cold or something and now I'm not feeling too hot. Covid test was negative, but I'll have him test again today. Sigh.

So far our holiday is fantastic. No tree, no gifts, just food. Cooking and baking, all of us in the kitchen. Music and wine.

This works.

Made the mistake of reading some news. Now I am in the FOULEST mood.

FIN.

This is the absolute dumbest place I have ever lived. Hands down. I spend more fucking time doing people's jobs for them, they should fucking pay me. Everyone I come in contact with. EVERYONE.

Cannot wait to GTFO.
