📅 August 18th, 2008 — Registration of Bitcoin Domain

Originally, bitcoin.org was registered and owned by the pioneering developers, Satoshi Nakamoto and Martti Malmi, and it remains unclear how he paid anonymously for the domain.

Recognizing the importance of decentralization, Nakamoto transferred ownership to a wider group upon leaving the project. This distributed responsibility aimed to prevent any single entity from controlling the domain and influencing the bitcoin movement.

Today, bitcoin.org operates as an independent open-source project, welcoming contributions from a global community. While final publication authority rests with the co-owners, the site thrives on collaborative efforts. Public pull requests drive development, and dedicated co-maintainers steer the daily operations.

📅 October 31th, 2008 — Presentation Of The Bitcoin Whitepaper

The paper also touches upon the role of nodes in validating these transactions. While it offers a wealth of information on the bitcoin blockchain and its development foundations, i readily acknowledge that certain aspects remain beyond my current grasp, encouraging everyone to explore the whitepaper directly.

📅 January 3rd, 2009 — Bitcoin Genesis Block

Bitcoin's Genesis Block marked the debut of a proof-of-work blockchain system, serving as the template for all subsequent blocks on its chain. In 2009, the anonymous developer Satoshi Nakamoto crafted this pivotal block, igniting the bitcoin and blockchain revolution. This block is said to contain a message which reads "The Times 03/jan/2009 chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks", this message is believed to be a reference to the headline from the Times newspaper on the same day the block was mined, reporting on the UK government plans to bail out failing banks.
